AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)03/13 Report--

According to foreign media reports, on March 13, Volkswagen Group's Italian supercar maker Lamborghini announced a two-week suspension of production, and its plant in Italy was temporarily closed.

Lamborghini said in an emailed statement on Thursday that it would temporarily close its plant in Italy until March 25. All of the brand's cars are made at its headquarters factory on the outskirts of the northern Italian city of Bologna.

Italy is a country with a severe epidemic, with more than a thousand deaths.

At 18:00 local time, Angelo Borrelli, head of the Italian civil defense department and commissioner of the novel coronavirus Emergency response Committee, said at a regular epidemic news conference that there are 12839 cases of COVID-19 in the country, of which 1153 are seriously ill, with a total cure of 1258 people and a total of 1016 deaths.

So far, a total of 15113 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Italy, an increase of 2651 over the previous day.

On March 9, Italian Prime Minister Conte announced that the city ban would be imposed nationwide from the 10th, and the school suspension time would be extended to April 3. The city closure order implemented in the early hours of March 8 was extended to the whole country. All residents are not allowed to enter or leave the city at will (except for work, emergency or medical condition). A self-report statement must be provided to enter or leave the city. At the same time, all sporting events are suspended nationwide.

In addition, Volkswagen Group, the parent company of Lamborghini, is also trying to limit the impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic on its operations. Volkswagen said production at the factory was normal, but expected supply chain disruptions due to supply disruptions from Italian suppliers.

Some of Europe's leading car and parts makers have temporarily closed factories in Italy to cut production. Pirelli, the Italian car tyre maker, said it would cut production at its factory in northern Italy for several days after a worker tested positive for novel coronavirus.

Once the epidemic continues to spread, more car companies and parts manufacturers will be forced to stop production, affecting the global car supply.

Figures show that Lamborghini sold more than 8000 units worldwide in 2019, up 40 per cent from a year earlier. Among them, the Chinese market delivered more than 750 units and has overtaken Japan to become its second largest market in the world.
