Safety performance has always been a major image and selling point of the Volvo brand, but Volvo's performance in safety performance in recent years has turned this selling point into a "bright spot" for complaining. Volvo recently launched a global recall because of an emergency braking system failure.

According to media reports, Volvo will recall 736430 vehicles worldwide due to emergency system failures, including the Volvo S60, Volvo V60, Volvo V60CC, Volvo S90, Volvo V90 and Volvo V90CC, as well as the SUV XC40, Volvo XC60 and Volvo XC90. The recalled models cover almost all the products Volvo is selling.

It is worth noting that according to Volvo sales figures released by Volvo, Volvo's global sales reached 705452 vehicles in 2019, an increase of 9.8% year-on-year and a breakthrough for six consecutive years. Volvo recalled 736430 vehicles worldwide for brake failures, surpassing sales for the whole of 2019.

Volvo spokesman Stefan Evestro said that after the update, it was found that the automatic emergency braking system (AEB) could not brake automatically under certain conditions and expected temperatures, and that the problem had no impact on the normal braking system. At present, the failure has not caused the accident, and Volvo has not filed the corresponding recall plan with the State Market Supervision Administration.

Volvo is known as the "safest car in the world", which has won the favor of many consumers, and its sales have increased year-on-year for six consecutive years. However, judging from Volvo's performance in recent years, Volvo cars have gone further and further away from the "safest" label.

According to the inquiry on the third-party automobile quality website, Volvo has been complained by many domestic consumers because of its body resonance, mainly focused on Volvo XC60 and Volvo S90 models. In addition, Volvo V60, Volvo S60, Volvo XC40 and other models also have body resonance.

In July 2019, Volvo recalled 507000 vehicles worldwide because of a flaw in engine parts. Volvo said vehicles affected by the recall included models produced in 2014-2019 with 2.0L four-cylinder diesel engines, including S60, S80, S90, V40, V60, V70, V90, XC60 and XC90.

In 2018, Volvo XC60 was exposed by CCTV for a faulty gearbox, and Volvo apologized on its official website to acknowledge the quality of the gearbox and promised to repair it free of charge. In addition, Volvo also recalled because of coolant leakage, seat belt early warning device failure and other defects.

Volvo sales growth at the same time, safety is no longer the brand's competition "bright spot", but become the brand's complaint "bright spot". While pursuing the rapid growth of sales, it is not advisable to ignore the problems and defects of products. Only with higher product services and quality can we establish a correct brand image and achieve more long-term development.
