A few days ago, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the latest batch of model declaration information, a vehicle that looks like smart has attracted the attention of the public. According to the application information, the car is a Yanling brand cat pure electric vehicle produced by Beijing Automobile Factory.

From the declaration chart, we can see that the design style of BAIC's Yanling cat is very similar to that of smart forfour, and the shape of the front grille, headlight group and fog lamp under the lamp group are also basically the same. From the design of the rear of the car, it is also the same as the smart forfour. The tail marks show the words "Beijing Automobile Factory" and "Big Cat" respectively, highlighting the identity of domestic brands and independent manufacturers.

The length, width and height of the car are 3239/1585/1541mm, the wheelbase is 2240mm, the positioning miniature pure electric vehicle, and the tire size is 165Comp60R14. The new car uses a rear drive motor, and its maximum power is 20kW, and the maximum speed of the car can reach 100km/h in the declared information.

As we all know, in recent years, independent automobile brands have basically moved towards the innovation stage of independent design and manufacturing, gradually getting rid of the notoriety of imitation and copying, so BAIC's Yanling cat entered the production catalogue approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, which must have caused heated discussion on the Internet.

First of all, BAIC manufacturing is not what we often call "BAIC". Beijing Automobile Factory Co., Ltd. (BAW) is currently a private enterprise, which has little to do with what we call "BAIC". Its two major shareholders are Beijing Automobile Assembly Plant and Shanghai Qinyong New Energy Development Co., Ltd., with shareholdings of 87.5% and 12.5% respectively, with four plants in Chaoyang, Shunyi, Huanghua and Dezhou. Beijing Automobile Factory has a shareholder relationship with BAIC in history. After BAIC withdrew completely in May 2016, Beijing Automobile Factory officially became a private enterprise, and now it is still producing classic 212 off-road vehicles, Warriors, Battle Flag models and so on.

Second, BAIC's new energy passenger cars manufactured in Texas are in fact an upgraded version of Fulu's low-speed electric cars. The biggest difference is that BAIC makes new energy passenger cars that can be legally licensed and on the road, while the latter belongs to low-speed four-wheeled electric vehicles, which we call "elderly walkers."

On August 17, 2018, Fulu Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Beijing Automobile Factory Co., Ltd., to jointly establish the Dezhou branch of Beijing Automobile Factory Co., Ltd., and jointly build the "Beijing brand" new energy vehicle brand. In October 2019, the Dezhou Branch of Beijing Automobile Factory was officially put into production, with the qualification for the production of new energy passenger cars, including Beiqi Leopard 200, Leopard 100, Big Cat and other models.

At present, Fulu Group has four major brands: Lichi, Fulu, Yifeng and Lu Pai. the low-speed four-wheeled electric vehicles produced by Shandong Lichi New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd. are more famous.

It is worth noting that the prototype version of BAIC's Yanling cat is "Lichi C01", and the prototype version of BAIC's Leopard 200 is "Yifeng K7". The latter two are four-wheeled low-speed electric vehicles, commonly known as "elderly walkers", which are mostly within 50km/h per hour; the upgraded version of BAIC's manufacturing and production has successfully raised the maximum speed to 100km/h, can be licensed for new energy and can be legally on the road, and has the identity of a motor vehicle.

An elderly scooter that looks like smart, upgraded and legalized, with a big mark made by BAIC, or sold for about 50, 000 yuan, where will its target consumers be? Perhaps in the eyes of many people, such behavior can only be described as "indescribable".
