AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)03/23 Report--
The plan for small emissions of Mercedes-Benz cars has been further accelerated. A few days ago, the official website of Mercedes-Benz announced the information of 2020 modified Mercedes-Benz C-Class models, all of which are equipped with 1.5T engines, reducing the choice of 2.0T models.
The modified Mercedes-Benz C-Class launched eight models with a price range of 30.78-373800 yuan, with C200 series and C260 series respectively, all equipped with 1.5T engines.
As a minor modification model, its appearance / interior maintains the overall design style of the cash model, only in terms of configuration upgrade. Specifically, the modified model, only Mercedes-Benz C260 sports version of the price compared to the old model floating 3000 yuan, but in the configuration to add 18-inch AMG alloy rims, electric tailgate, 64-color atmosphere lights. The price of the remaining seven configuration models is the same as the old model, but also adjusted in configuration.
While the higher configuration of the C 300 series, only the C 300 L and C 300 L sports version of the two models, the entry-level C 300 sports version officially discontinued.
In terms of price, the C300 series is more than 100,000 yuan higher, and the C300L and C300L sports versions are both priced at 474800 yuan. Few consumers make a choice at this price. And the C 300 series is more expensive than the higher class and the Mercedes-Benz E 300 series with the same power system. For reference, the price range of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz E 300L series is 46.58-492800 yuan.
Therefore, from the perspective of this modification and pricing strategy, it means that the 2020 modified Mercedes-Benz C-Class models are almost dominated by 1.5T power, and perhaps 2.0T power models will be abandoned in the future.
In terms of power data, the Mercedes-Benz C200L carries an M264 series 1.5T in-line four-cylinder engine with a maximum output of 156 horsepower and a peak torque of 250 Nm, matching a 9-speed manual transmission. The C260 L model is equipped with a 48V light mixing system composed of 1.5T in-line four-cylinder engine and start-up generator. The maximum output of the engine is 184 horsepower, the maximum power of the motor is 14 horsepower, and the transmission system matches the 9-speed manual self-integrated gearbox.
According to the current new car propulsion strategy of Mercedes-Benz in the Chinese market, 1.3T engines will be fully popularized to the compact level in the future, including A-class, GLA, GLB and so on, while 1.5T engines and 1.5T+48V light mixing systems will be popularized to medium or even large-scale levels, and there will be fewer and fewer 2.0T models to choose from.
Although small displacement is the current trend of engine technology improvement, Mercedes-Benz, as a first-tier luxury brand, will comprehensively promote small displacement, which will widen the gap between consumers' understanding of the brand and the product itself to a certain extent. This is also not conducive to brand communication, online public opinion will also appear more complaints.
Mercedes-Benz is one of the most well-known luxury brands in China. Its sales in China reached 693443 in 2019, an increase of 6.2% over the same period last year. The Chinese market continues to be Mercedes-Benz's largest single market in the world. Among them, the joint venture Beijing Mercedes-Benz sold more than 550000 vehicles in the whole year, an increase of 13% over the same period last year.
