AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)03/27 Report--

On March 27, SAIC-Volkswagen official platform officially released the new Passat information, the core of which is that the new car meets the national 6 emission standards and is equipped with front and rear head safety air curtains. This also further increased Passat's passive safety devices to reduce the degree of injury to the people in the car in the accident.

SAIC-Volkswagen also said that the new Passat has also made a number of configuration optimizations, upgraded mobile online services, added 9.2-inch large screen and wireless charging functions on medium-to-high-configuration models, and recently the 2020 Passat has been launched one after another and will be on the market soon.

However, although the new model is optimized on passive safety devices, SAIC Volkswagen did not elaborate on the "vehicle structural safety" issues that consumers are concerned about. For consumers who love Volkswagen brands and Volkswagen products, they hope that manufacturers can optimize the car body structure and further strengthen the use of materials in order to improve the overall safety level of vehicles in the case of poor C-IASI collision performance.

Because in the collision assessment of the SAIC Volkswagen 2019 Passat by the China Insurance Research C-IASI, the Passat's car body and cockpit were seriously deformed, the A-pillar was directly broken, and the airbag was seriously displaced, so it got the worst rating in the project, and the manufacturer's technicians watched the whole collision process on the spot.

Many car owners or consumers have been dissatisfied with the safety level of their vehicles and have continued to lodge complaints. On the car quality network platform, SAIC-Volkswagen manufacturers responded to car owners' complaints: "SAIC-Volkswagen has always been very concerned about vehicle quality and active and passive safety, and all its Volkswagen brand products have been developed in accordance with China's C-NCAP five-star evaluation standards, and have obtained good reviews in a number of detailed tests. C-NCAP originates from the global system of NCAP, and has made adaptive improvements according to the traffic and road conditions in China, which is also the most common safety standard in China. At the same time, Passat is equipped with a number of active and passive safety configurations, which can avoid collisions to the maximum extent and better protect the people in the car. In view of the poor performance of a sub-item, we also attach great importance to it and have carried out technical analysis as soon as possible. Thank you again for your attention to SAIC Volkswagen. We ask dealers to continue to pay attention to the use of customers' vehicles to ensure that customers can rest assured that they use cars. "

According to the news we have learned, the SAIC Volkswagen 2020 Passat has upgraded its configuration and will be put on the market in the way of "price increase", and the specific price list has been issued to the major dealers.

Take the national sixth edition 2020 Passa as an example, the price of 1.4T (280TSI) / 2.0T low power version (330TSI) all increased by 1500 yuan, of which the 1.4T 280TSI business version also needed an additional price increase of 1000 yuan, mainly due to the addition of the front and back row head safety air curtain. The price of the 2.0T high-power version (380TSI) remains the same compared with the 2019 model. As a result, the starting price of the upgraded 2020 Passat rose to 187400 yuan, an increase of 2500 yuan.

In terms of motivation, the new Passat has not changed. Among them, the 280TSI model is equipped with 1.4T inline four-cylinder engine with a maximum power of 150hp and peak torque of 250Nm; the 330TSI model is equipped with a low-power version of 2.0T inline four-cylinder engine with a maximum power of 186hp and peak torque of 320Nm; the 380TSI model is equipped with a high-power version of 2.0T inline four-cylinder engine with maximum power of 220hp and peak torque of 350Nm. In terms of transmission system, the new car matches the 7-speed double clutch gearbox.

According to SAIC's production and sales report, SAIC Volkswagen sold 123000 vehicles from January to February 2020, down 59 per cent from a year earlier. The decline in SAIC-Volkswagen sales in 2020 was higher than the 43.6 per cent decline in passenger cars as a whole.

Passat is not only the star product of SAIC Volkswagen, but also the representative of the main sales model and brand image. According to the data, Passat sold 214000 vehicles in 2019, up 19.6% from a year earlier, with December sales reaching 29000, up 74.1% from a year earlier. In January 2020, Passat sales fell to 15818, down 4.1 per cent from a year earlier and 46.2 per cent lower than in December.

If the new Passat only adds passive safety devices, and there is little change in the structure of the car body, there will be no essential improvement to the safety level. Consumers are more concerned about the changes in the safety level of the car body structure, SAIC-Volkswagen manufacturers should make a detailed explanation in order to respond to consumers' doubts and concerns.
