According to the previous official introduction, the domestic version of the explorer will be available within 2020. The positioning of the car is medium and large SUV, the overall design of the domestic version is consistent with the overseas version, the front face is very domineering, and the power is equipped with 2.3T turbocharged engine.

Earlier, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has disclosed the declaration information of domestic explorers, and the car will provide a variety of appearance kits. The domestic version continues the overseas version of the sixth generation of explorers, using a new front face design, the front grille presents a hexagonal, and connected with the headlight group. According to the declaration information, the car offers 8 kinds of front grille options, including ST version and ST-Line version.

The taillight of the new car adopts the C shape of vertical design, and the model adopts the exposed exhaust of double-sided layout. In the body size part, the length, width and height of the new car are 5075*2004/2020*1778mm and the wheelbase is 3025mm, which is larger than the size of SAIC-Volkswagen Tuang.

The car is based on Ford's brand-new CD6 rear-drive platform, which is the product of the soon-to-be-made Lincoln flier. In terms of power, the new car is equipped with a 2.3T turbocharged engine, model CAF488WQGR, with a maximum power of 276hp and is expected to match a 10-speed hand-mounted gearbox and a four-wheel drive system.

At present, the price range of the 2018 imported Explorer 2.3T models currently on sale is 41.28-499800 yuan, and the price will fall further after being made in the future. With Ford's current sales strategy, it is expected that the starting price will eventually fall to less than 300000.

According to the positioning of the model, the future competitors of Changan Ford explorers are SAIC-Volkswagen Tuang, Buick Anke and so on.

Changan Ford's sales have declined for three years in a row, and now its products are updated and localized, and there are also slight adjustments in its positioning. It remains to be seen whether the sales volume can stop falling and rebounding. Changan Ford has said it will launch at least 18 new models in the next three years.

According to the data, Changan Ford sold 183987 vehicles in 2019, down 51.3 per cent from a year earlier, and a total of 19447 vehicles from January to February this year, down 10 per cent from a year earlier.
