To this end, adjustments will be made to the field of powertrain to improve product power and further reduce vehicle fuel consumption in order to be more in line with national emission regulations.

According to the plan, FAW-Volkswagen Chengdu plant has currently carried out the technical transformation project of the 1.5TSI evo engine, and the engine will gradually replace the current 1.4T engine after it is put into production in the future. According to the data, the technical transformation project has been filed with the territorial development and reform bureau in August 2019, and the engine production capacity will reach 600000 units per year after the completion of the project.

In fact, Volkswagen Group released this new generation of EA211 1.5T Evo engine as early as 2016 and has been applied to overseas models, but it is not known why it has not been introduced in the domestic market until now.

It is understood that the engine is actually the second generation of the EA211 series, and it can also be seen as an upgraded version of the 1.4TSI engine. Its maximum power is 118kW peak torque 250N ·m, although in terms of parameters, it is not much different from 1.4T engine (maximum power 110kW, peak torque 250N ·m), and the maximum power only increases 8kW, but it uses a high compression ratio Miller cycle (compression ratio 12.5mm), which greatly improves the combustion efficiency by 37.5%, which is close to the performance of the L15B 1.5T on the Civic (thermal efficiency is 38%).

At the same time, the variable cross-section turbocharger can make the engine form greater "thrust" to promote the turbine rotation at low speed and better restrain the turbine hysteresis phenomenon; at high speed, with the increasing exhaust pressure, the angle of the guide vane is also opened to the maximum to achieve the ideal turbocharging effect.

In addition, thanks to technologies such as ACT actively variable cylinders, VTG variable cross-section turbochargers, high compression ratio Miller cycles, GPE gasoline particulate matter traps, new intercooling and intake systems, and more precise temperature management, better fuel economy is achieved and lower than 1.4T engines.

Thus it can be seen that Volkswagen's performance of this engine in the industry is also quite excellent, but for the above-mentioned technology, whether there will be a reduction after the realization of domestic production is also what everyone is most concerned about. after all, Volkswagen's reduction in China is also a "daily operation".

It is reported that the new 1.5T FAW-Volkswagen engine is not expected to be officially put into production until 2021, when Volkswagen and Jetta will fully use the model, including Suiteng, Bora, Golf, Tanguo, Tanyue and other best-selling FAW-Volkswagen models such as Jetta VS5 and VS7.

According to FAW-Volkswagen data in 2019, its brand became the only car company in the first camp of the joint venture to maintain positive growth, with sales reaching 2129976 vehicles in 2019, up from 2051976 in the same period last year, up 3.8% from the same period last year, and winning the championship for the first time in nearly five years.
