AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)04/03 Report--
After BMW and Volkswagen, Toyota also provides an official way to buy back vehicles due to defects found and the vehicles are old models.
On April 3, Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, and decided to recall a total of 241 imported RAV4 series cars produced during the period from June 13, 1997 to February 12, 1999.
The reason for the recall is that due to defects made by the supplier, the moistureproof measures of the NADI gas generator containing non-sodium azide in the driver's side air bag are not complete. In the course of use, due to the influence of repeated changes in temperature and humidity, the gas generating agent may be deteriorated by moisture, which may cause the air bag to be unable to unfold normally, and the gas generator may be abnormally damaged when the air bag is expanded, resulting in debris flying out and injuring the people in the car. There is a security risk.
Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. will replace airbag gas generators or airbag assemblies produced by other manufacturers for vehicles within the recall.
At the same time, when parts are in short supply, Toyota will also provide a plan to buy back vehicles for users to choose for the convenience of users, in order to eliminate safety risks.
These vehicles are already made more than 20 years ago, so netizens are more concerned about whether these vehicles are still there today.
In fact, the defect of the airbag has long existed, and BMW recalled 3-series cars made 20 years ago because of the same problem.
According to an official announcement, BMW China has announced a recall of some imported BMW 318i, 323i and 328i vehicles (E36) produced from July 1, 1998 to April 28, 2000, a total of 14 vehicles. The reason for the recall is consistent with the Toyota airbag recall, and BMW will overhaul the vehicle free of charge to eliminate safety risks. At the same time, BMW also provides a plan to buy back vehicles for users to choose from.
Recalling cars made two decades ago and offering official buyback programs are rare in the industry, and Toyota and BMW's move also provides a reference for other carmakers to recall defects.
In fact, such age does make it possible that these cars have been scrapped, so netizens are more concerned about whether these vehicles are still there today.
