Changan Ford announced that the domestic Explorer will be unveiled on April 8. The new car is positioned as a medium-sized SUV with a variety of exterior designs. The power will be equipped with a 2.3T engine and will be available for sale in 2020.

It is reported that Chang 'an Ford brand-new Explorer has recently been mass-produced in the factory, while the right side of the picture shows a domestic Lincoln model.

Earlier, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has disclosed the declaration information of domestic explorers, and the car will provide a variety of appearance packages. The domestic version continues the shape of the overseas version of the sixth generation explorer, adopting a brand-new front face design, the front grille presents a hexagon, and is connected with the headlight group. According to the declaration information, the car offers eight front grilles, including ST version and ST-Line version.

The taillights of the new car adopt C-shaped vertical design, and the model adopts exposed exhaust with bilateral double-outlet layout. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 5075*2004/2020* 1778mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 3025mm, which is larger than the size of SAIC Volkswagen Touang.

The car is based on Ford's brand-new CD6 rear-drive platform, which is the same product as the upcoming Lincoln Flyer. In terms of power, the new car is equipped with CAF488WQGR 2.3T turbocharged engine with maximum power of 276 hp. It is expected to match 10-speed manual self-contained gearbox and four-wheel drive system.

At present, the price range of 2018 imported Explorer 2.3T models on sale is 412,800 - 499,800 yuan, and the selling price will be further reduced after domestic production in the future. With Ford's current sales strategy, it is expected that the final starting price can be reduced to less than 300,000 yuan.

According to the model positioning, Chang 'an Ford Explorer's future competitors include SAIC Volkswagen Touang, Buick Angke Flag, etc.

Chang 'an Ford sales decline for three consecutive years, now the product update and localization accelerated, there are also minor adjustments in positioning, whether to achieve sales rebound remains to be seen. Changan Ford has said it will launch at least 18 new models over the next three years.

Data show that Chang 'an Ford sold 183987 vehicles in 2019, down 51.3% year-on-year; sales from January to February this year totaled 19447 vehicles, down 10% year-on-year.
