Since FAW Toyota has previously exposed that it will introduce Toyota's new SUV model Harrier, foreign media have recently released a preview map of the model. In addition, it is reported that FAW Toyota 941B (Harrier) model will be officially put into production in November 2021, with a planned annual production capacity of 60, 000 vehicles.

According to the latest released documents, FAW Toyota Harrier models will be built on the existing production line without changing production capacity, that is, directly using the existing RAV4 Rongfang production line, with a planned production capacity of 60000 vehicles. At the same time, it means that the production capacity of RAV4 will be reduced. According to the existing production capacity, RAV4 Rongfang is expected to be 203800 vehicles, realizing that after FAW Toyota Harrier models are put into production, the production capacity is 143800 vehicles. The RAV4 PHEV hybrid is still 16200.

In addition, FAW Toyota Harrier models will have a total investment of 2.628 billion yuan and will be put into production in November 2021.

From the Toyota Harrier model preview map released by overseas media, it is basically consistent with the previously exposed rendering. The new car uses a current Toyota family design, similar to the Hanlanda, with a large horizontal air intake grille below; the headlights are designed in a font style and connected with chrome-plated panels. The overall body design is relatively round, very similar to the Ford sharp boundary model.

As the rear model is not known for the time being, according to the previous rendering, the tail is relatively simple, the taillight is also a slender design, and the chrome strip runs through the rear of the car. After the new model is made in China, it may be lengthened and developed using TNGA architecture. The current car body size is 4880/1875/1650mm and the wheelbase is 2710mm, so it can be regarded as a "large" brand-new RAV4. In addition, the new car does not rule out the possibility that it will continue to offer a seven-seat layout.

The current Harrier is equipped with a 2.0L turbocharged engine, and the new car is expected to add a Dynamic Force 2.5L naturally aspirated engine, as well as the introduction of a hybrid system.

In fact, as the "twin model" of Lexus RX, the Harrier model was first born in 1997, positioning the compact SUV. After being upgraded and lengthened after 2003, it was positioned as a medium-sized SUV and sold with the same design as the Lexus RX, with only the logo difference, with the Harrier with a pigeon-like design at the front and Toyota at the rear.

With the domestication of FAW Toyota Harrier model, it means that FAW Toyota will add a new SUV model after RAV4, Yize and Prado, and at the same time realize the layout of Toyota brand expanding various market segments in China's SUV market, so that Toyota can obtain more market competitiveness.
