AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)04/10 Report--

In the Chinese market, Volkswagen Group is the largest car company in local production and sales, and then its car safety is also the most worrying. in the previous list of models tested by Baoyan C-IASI, none of Volkswagen's cars received a full G (excellent) rating in terms of body structural safety, including Volkswagen Passat, Maiteng, Tuguan L and Skoda Kodiak. With the announcement of the domestic Audi A6L results, Volkswagen finally has a "face-saving" product.

On April 10, China Insurance Research C-IASI released the test results of the AUDI A6L model produced by FAW-Volkswagen Co., Ltd., which is the 2019 40TFSI luxury sporty model with an official guiding price of 409800 yuan, which is also the lowest configuration of the Audi A6L.

According to the report, the structural safety of Audi A6L was highly evaluated and excellent in terms of occupant safety index, of which 25% of the front offset collision, side collision, roof strength and seat / headrest test results were excellent (G).

In the most important frontal 25% offset collision project, the Audi A6L car structure remains intact and the firewall and A-pillar do not collapse obviously. At the same time, the airbag in the car ejected and contacted with the driver's head without serious deviation. C-IASI of the China Insurance Research Institute commented that the front head protection has a stable front airbag effect, and the side air curtain protected by the side head has a limited coverage in the front.

Compared with other Volkswagen models, the Audi A6L performs relatively well, which may be related to positioning and price. Of the four Volkswagen series models previously tested by China Insurance Research C-IASI, SAIC Volkswagen Passat and Tuguan L are the worst P ratings, Skoda Kodiak has a good (A) rating, and FAW-Volkswagen Maiteng has a general (M) rating.

Some netizens thought, "the Volkswagen department also has to split the price, and if the car at this price is still a P, it's over." Another netizen thought, "if the Audi A-pillar can be broken, the Volkswagen series will not have to play." Fortunately, the structural safety of the domestic Audi A6L was highly evaluated, which saved the bad public opinion and reputation of the public department. But even so, it does not mask the low level of safety of other Volkswagen models tested.

Audi A6L scored G in pedestrian safety index and auxiliary safety index in other projects, while poor (P) evaluation in crashworthiness and maintenance economy index. when the maintenance economy score was 24, the vehicle score was 0, which means that the maintenance cost of low-speed collision is higher.

So far, the Audi A6L is the only Volkswagen car with a full G safety structure in the CICC C-IASI test. From the consumer's point of view, it is natural for luxury cars to be rated G, and what bothers them most is the safety of Volkswagen-branded cars and the disaster of low development standards. Or is it the disaster of cutting corners?

According to the data, FAW-Volkswagen achieved terminal sales of 2.13 million vehicles (including imported cars) in 2019, up 3.8 per cent from the same period last year, of which Audi brand sales were 688900, up 4.2 per cent from the same period last year. In terms of specific models, Audi A6L sold 131185 vehicles, down 12.5% from about 150000 in 2018.
