The Maple Leaf brand was officially launched on April 10, bringing its first new car, the Maple Leaf 30x. The car is positioned as a pure electric small SUV, based on Geely's new Vision X3, with a NEDC mileage of 306km, and currently has a subsidized pre-sale range of 6.88-79800 yuan.
In addition, Maple Leaf has also released plans for future products, with the launch of the Maple Leaf 30x and a MPV model in 2020, which will range from minicars to medium and large cars, as well as two mysterious models, pickups and sports cars.
From this point of view, after owning Geely, Lecker, Geometry, Volvo, Polar Star, Lutes and other car brands, Geely Li Shufu once again chose to start a business to build Maple Leaf, a new powerful brand. From the product point of view, Maple Leaf is mainly aimed at the low-end electric car market.
The parent company of Maple Leaf is "Fengsheng Automotive Technology Group Co., Ltd.", which was formerly known as "Kangdi Electric vehicle Group Co., Ltd.". At present, the two major shareholders are Geely Technology Group and Zhejiang Kangdi Automobile Industry Co., Ltd. hold 78% and 22% of its shares, respectively.
According to the information, Kangdi Electric vehicle Group is jointly established by Geely's Shanghai Huapu Guorun Automobile Co., Ltd. (Shanghai Huapu) and Zhejiang Kangdi Automobile Industry Co., Ltd., each of which holds a 50% sharehold. the company is mainly engaged in the production and sales of mini electric vehicles, as well as the layout of car sharing and travel market.
In order to focus on its electric car business, Geely transferred its stake in Condi Electric to Geely Technology Group, another company owned by Li Shufu, in 2016. With the sharp decline in sales of Condi electric cars, the Condi brand has gradually withdrawn from the market, with zero sales in 2019. However, Geely Technology Group did not give up Condi's resources and production qualifications, and acquired Condi's 28% stake in the joint venture in March 2019, raising its stake to 78%, based on which Maple Leaf was founded.
According to the data, Geely Technology Group Co., Ltd. relies on Geely Holdings Group, focusing on new energy, new technology and new mode industrial investment in the field of travel ecology. Its subsidiaries include: Cao Cao Travel, Little Dog Travel, left, Middle and right Micro bus, Qianjiang Motorcycle, National Railway auspicious News, Taili Flying Automobile, Joma, easy Insurance Technology, Geely Business Travel and so on. On February 24, 2018, Geely Technology Group also announced that it would acquire 9.69% of Daimler's voting shares through its overseas enterprises. After the acquisition, Geely Technology Group will become Daimler's largest shareholder and promise to hold its equity for a long time.
Therefore, in essence, Maple Leaf is the original Condi electric car, which combines the production qualification of Huapu and the assets of Condi Electric.
Geely Holdings said that Maple Leaf, as a brand-new new energy vehicle brand of Fengsheng Automotive Technology Group, a start-up automotive technology company, is equivalent to a new car-building force and participates in the market competition in the sphere of influence of new cars. to provide all-round verification for exploring the innovation of big travel business model in the future. Maple Leaf has no equity relationship with Geely, operates independently on the brand, operates independently on the channel, builds its own marketing system, and does not share the dealer network with Geely, Lecker or Geometry.

Sales of new energy vehicles in China declined for the first time in 2019, with a total sales volume of 1.206 million vehicles, down 4 per cent from the same period last year. In 2020, the decline of new energy vehicles was greater than that of the industry as a whole. From January to March, sales of new energy vehicles were 114000, down 56.4% from the same period last year, and the decline was greater than the average of 43.3% of overall car sales.
