GAC-Mitsubishi, whose sales have continued to decline, recently issued a large-scale recall announcement, which is even larger than last year's sales.

According to the announcement, GAC-Mitsubishi Motor Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration. It is decided to recall a total of 174519 Yige, Outlander and Jinxuan cars produced between November 9, 2017 and August 30, 2019 from April 10, 2020.

GAC-Mitsubishi sold a total of 133016 vehicles in 2019, so the recall exceeded GAC-Mitsubishi's one-year sales.

The announcement also shows that the vehicles within the scope of the recall due to the low material density of the pump core impeller of the fuel pump assembly, fuel intrusion may cause impeller swelling deformation (warping), interference with the pump shell and pump cover, resulting in the fuel pump can not work properly, unable to provide normal fuel to the engine, in extreme cases, the engine may be flameout while the vehicle is running, and there are safety risks. The solution is for GAC-Mitsubishi to replace the improved fuel pump core for vehicles within the scope of the recall free of charge, in order to eliminate safety risks.

Throughout 2019, GAC-Mitsubishi did not launch any new cars, only a compact SUV- Yige was launched in November 2018. Therefore, from the point of view of the product line, GAC-Mitsubishi has set foot in the mainstream segment of the SUV market, but the car field has almost given up.

Data show that GAC-Mitsubishi accumulated sales of 144000 vehicles in 2018, an increase of 22.7% over the same period last year. As the cold winter of the car market continues, GAC-Mitsubishi has turned into a decline. GAC-Mitsubishi sold 133000 vehicles in 2019, down 8 per cent from a year earlier. The decline widened in 2020, with GAC-Mitsubishi selling only 10,000 vehicles in the first three months, down 66.67% from the same period last year.

The lukewarm market performance of GAC-Mitsubishi is related to the slow progress of product renewal and the inactive introduction of technology. The number of recalls caused by quality problems exceeds annual sales, making it even worse for GAC-Mitsubishi, which is suffering from declining sales. As a top priority, the update progress of GAC-Mitsubishi products needs to be accelerated.
