AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)04/19 Report--
The legal brand fell into a downturn in the Chinese market. After the dissolution of Chang 'an PSA, Dongfeng Renault also announced its delisting, so the fate of another legal automobile enterprise Shenlong Automobile attracted attention from the outside world. A few days ago, Shenlong Automobile revealed the news of new car release in response to outside questions, the brand-new Dongfeng Peugeot 2008 and e2008 will be on sale in late May.
As early as July 2019, Dongfeng Peugeot's new generation 2008 has been put into production in the factory, which has been continuously hit by the epidemic and the launch progress of new cars has also been affected. Compared with the overseas version, the domestic brand-new 2008 is consistent in design and more recognizable than the current model.
In appearance, the new 2008 lion claw headlights and "fangs" daytime running lights are Peugeot brand family style, the "2008" model name also appears in front of the hood, while the dense and gradual air intake grille further highlights the vehicle's sense of technology and sportiness.
From the side, the new Peugeot 2008 also features angular design. The rear part of the brand-new 2008 continues to adopt the blackened tail lamp design, the black trim connects the tail lamps on both sides and runs through the rear of the car body, the fog lamps are located on both sides of the lower part of the car body, and the new car also adopts two-way exhaust. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4312/1785/1545mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2612mm, positioning a small SUV.
The interior is a big selling point of Peugeot models, with unique design style, with dual-spoke sports steering wheel, 10-inch central LCD screen, unique buttons and electronic bumper design, officially called 3D i-Cockpit immersive cockpit.
In terms of power, the new car is equipped with a 1.2T three-cylinder engine, with a maximum power of 136 horsepower and a peak torque of 230 N·m. The transmission system matches a 6-speed dual clutch gearbox and a manual gearbox. The all-electric version (Peugeot e2008) is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 163 hp and a peak torque of 260 N·m, a ternary lithium battery with a matching capacity of 50kWh, and a NEDC range of 430km.
In addition to the launch of new cars in 2008, Dongfeng Peugeot will also launch 508L PHEV and 4008 PHEV models during the year. Dongfeng Citroen, a subsidiary of Shenlong Automobile, will launch new C3 and Tianyi PHEV models.
Although the sales volume of new vehicles continues to decline, PSA Group has repeatedly stressed that it will not give up the Chinese market, and the clear new vehicle planning and launch time also confirm that the joint venture company DPCA will continue to operate.
PSA chief executive Carlos Tavares also said last month that PSA and FCA would need to review their strategy in China after completing the merger of the two groups, saying: "We want to stay in China, we need to find a successful solution."
In such an environment, Peugeot and Citroen brands in China will also be very difficult to develop the road. The all-new 2008 will be the most promising model in the brand renaissance, judging by the launch schedule.
Dongfeng Peugeot and Dongfeng Citroen, the two brands of Shenlong Automobile, sold only 115,400 vehicles in 2019, down 54.5% year-on-year. Affected by the Wuhan epidemic, sales of Shenlong Automobile fell to 6385 vehicles in the first quarter of this year, down 81.6% year-on-year.
