In the face of many automakers accelerating the launch of models in the field of electrification, the Toyota brand, which has been later than most car companies, finally launched China's first pure electric model, C-HR EV. But unexpectedly, when the price of the first electric car with Toyota's quality was announced, many consumers lamented that it was "too expensive."

According to the official announcement, the new car has launched five models, all of which have a mileage of 400km and a subsidised price of 22.58-249800 yuan. It can also provide eight color choices, which are consistent with fuel models, but it is worth noting that in terms of new car color selection, pearl white exterior color models need to pay an additional 2000 yuan; two-color exterior color models need to pay an additional 2000 yuan; and pearl white and black two-color models need to pay an additional 4000 yuan.

From the appearance of the whole vehicle, the new model is also developed by electrification on the basis of CH-R, so there is not much difference in styling. The biggest difference between the new car and the fuel version is that the C-HR EV uses a closed front grille, eliminates the exhaust system at the rear and adds a pure electric logo.

The interior is not much different from the fuel version, but the 12.3-inch full liquid crystal meter is used to replace the traditional mechanical instrument to achieve a more cool and rich content display, while changing the shift to an electronic lever with B (kinetic energy recovery) gear.

Although the price of the new car is significantly higher than that of fuel models and competing models of the same level, it is still relatively rich in terms of configuration and technology. In terms of active safety configuration, except for the minimum configuration, C-HR EV are equipped with Toyota's latest generation of TSS Zhixing safety system, including PCS pre-collision safety system and DRCC dynamic radar cruise control system, which can turn on automatic car-following function within 0-180km/h. And the newly added LTA lane tracking assist system with steering wheel auxiliary steering and return function meets the requirements of quasi-L2 autopilot and AHB automatic adjustment high light system.

In addition, C-HR EV applies a number of mature technologies in the field of Toyota electrification, equipped with battery heating system and refrigerant cooling technology, to improve battery charging efficiency in low temperature environment, refrigerant cooling to ensure stable operation of battery at high temperature, and charge from 0% to 75% in 50 minutes.

In the power part, the new car will be equipped with a maximum power 150kW (204Ps) motor with a peak torque of 300N m, a ternary lithium battery pack with a capacity of 54.3kWh, and a range of 400km under NEDC conditions.

Since the C-HR went public in China for a year, the market performance of 5000 vehicles per month has also been well recognized, and many people have been attracted by its personalized styling, but most of them choose the car for young consumers. Although the EV version is boosted by Toyota brand technology, which has been owned by the electric industry for more than 20 years, the price of more than 200000 undoubtedly deters many consumers. after all, as an electric car, its 400km range is even less than that of a large number of domestic electric models.

If you look at Dongfeng Honda X-NV and Guangzhou Auto Honda VE-1, which are currently in competition, they have already offered a 20% discount, which is equivalent to a naked car price of only 125300, which undoubtedly creates a huge gap, so if you choose a CH-R EV with a price close to 300000, it will inevitably make more consumers hard on Tesla. So by contrast, C-HR EV can only rely on Toyota's high brand premium and brand-new structure to bring product strength to compete with one.
