In recent years, Mazda relies on Anksera, Atez, CX-5 and CX-4 to achieve volume, while the sales volume of domestic CX-8 is very low, so the introduction of domestic new CX-30 is of great significance to Mazda products and market strategy.
From the appearance of the new car, the overall design is consistent with the overseas version. The front face adopts the family style of Mazda, the shield grille is further integrated with the headlights on both sides, and the eagle-eyed lamp group is also an iconic element. The new car has a low side shape and a sporty style, while there is a plastic package around the body, and the high-end version retains the 18-inch double five-spoke dark gray rims provided by the overseas version. In terms of power, the domestic version of CX-30 provides a 2.0L naturally aspirated engine with a maximum power of 158hp (116kW) and a maximum torque of 200Nm, with a minimum manual transmission and a six-speed manual integrated transmission matched with other models.
The Changan Mazda CX-30 is currently priced between 13 and 176900 yuan, and its main competitors are small SUV such as Volkswagen Tan Song, Honda Color / XR-V, Toyota Yize, Hyundai Onchino and so on. At the same time, Changan Mazda will also complete the product layout of small, compact to medium-sized SUV.
The Changan Mazda brand has failed to break the bottleneck of 200000 vehicles in China and has lost sales for the second year in a row. Sales of Changan Mazda rose from 193600 in 2016 to 197000 in China in 2017, but declined for the next two years. Sales of Changan Mazda fell to 166300 in 2018 and 133600 in 2019. In 2002, Changan Mazda sold only 22245 vehicles in the first quarter, which was greatly affected by epidemic factors.
In fact, Mazda lags behind Toyota, Honda and Nissan in the top four of the Japanese system. The main reasons are slow product replacement, stagnant introduction of new cars, inactive technology introduction, lower-than-expected terminal offers, and so on.
In the new car launch plan, Changan Mazda has already learned the lesson of "failure". Domestic CX-8 medium-sized SUV has been on the market for a year and a half, and its sales volume is very bleak, with an average monthly sales of only more than 100s. there is still uncertainty as to whether it can continue to be put into production or update its products. CX-8 sold 1476 units last year, according to the data. A media visit reported that some Changan Mazda dealers revealed that few of the car could be sold in the store in a year, and it is expected that it has reached the brink of stopping production. In fact, many consumers believe that pricing is too high and too confident is the core reason why CX-8 can not be accepted by the market. The official price range of the car is 25.88-330800 yuan, which is above Toyota Hanlanda.
Therefore, the domestic CX-30 will be a strategic model for Changan Mazda to revive the new car market. If the price is reasonable, coupled with appropriate marketing means and follow-up terminal concessions, it may be able to help Changan Mazda brand out of difficulties and return to positive sales growth.
