Toyota and FAW of China decided to reorganize the management system of the joint venture FAW Toyota. According to official sources, Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. (TFTM) will become the overall enterprise of FAW Toyota, while other FAW Toyota vehicle and engine manufacturers will be included as its wholly-owned subsidiaries.

It means that the joint venture of TFTM is Tianjin FAW Toyota (TFTM), which will include Sichuan FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. (SFTM Chengdu), Changchun Fengyue Co., Ltd. (SFTM Changchun), Tianjin FAW Toyota engine Co., Ltd. (TFTE), FAW Toyota (Changchun) engine Co., Ltd. (FTCE).

In addition, FAW Toyota Technology Development Co., Ltd. (FTRD), the R & D company of FAW-Toyota enterprises, has also entered the management system reform plan and become a wholly-owned subsidiary of TFTM. The sales company of FAW and Toyota, that is, FAW Toyota Motor sales Co., Ltd. (FTMS), although there is no change in capital, but in terms of specific business, it will achieve overall management by reporting to TFTM, with a view to establishing a system that runs through development, production and sales.

FAW Toyota said that the purpose of this restructuring is to achieve the best production system, improve resource and strategic efficiency, and then enhance competitiveness through TFTM's unified management of production enterprises, so as to cope with China's rapidly changing market environment. At the same time, make the reporting process clearer, and strive to strengthen the management of enterprises and accelerate decision-making.

FAW Toyota has three major production bases, which are located in Tianjin, Jilin Changchun and Chengdu, Sichuan. The leading products are IZOA, VIOS, COROLLA, CROWN, Rongfang RAV4, PRADO, AVALON, COASTER bus and so on.

FAW Toyota plans to increase factory capacity and eliminate some models at the same time. According to the enterprise plan, with the implementation of the sixth national emission regulations, Prado produced by Sichuan FAW Toyota will stop production in June this year and officially withdraw from the Chinese market. At that time, the factory will introduce the B-class sedan Asian Dragon under the structure of TNGA, and plans to put into production of up to 100000 cars per year in 2021, filling the gap in Prado's delisting production line.

In addition, FAW Toyota New Energy vehicle Plant will also start construction, with an annual production capacity of 200000 new energy passenger vehicles after completion.

In terms of products, FAW Toyota will launch new Corolla, new Wechi, Yize EV and Rongfang PHEV models this year. In the future, FAW Toyota will also introduce a new generation of Hanlanda sister cars, a new generation of Harrier (Haiya), a new generation of Sienna (Senna) and so on.

FAW Toyota sold 738000 vehicles in 2019, up 2 per cent from a year earlier, according to the data. In the first quarter of 2020, FAW Toyota sold a total of 124000 vehicles, of which the first quarter sales of the main selling models, Asian Dragon, Carola and RAV4, were 14000, 54000 and 29000 respectively.

Toyota has upgraded its position in the Chinese market and reorganized its corporate management structure to enhance its business capacity in China, and perhaps there will be more localized products in the future.
