AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)04/30 Report--

On April 30th, China Automotive Research C-NCAP released the results of the first batch of collision tests in 2020. a total of four models participated in the crash tests, namely SAIC-Volkswagen Passat, Guangzhou Automobile Honda Haoying, Geely Geometry An and GAC MOTOR GA6.

Among them, only Chuanqi GA6 was purchased and tested by C-NCAP independently, and the other three models were voluntarily submitted by the manufacturer to participate in the test. C-NCAP said that all the vehicles participating in the test were purchased independently from the 4S store by the Automobile Evaluation and Management Center, and the cost of purchasing vehicles and spare parts was about 2.56 million yuan.

From the final result, all four models received five-star safety evaluation, which means that Haoying, Geometry An and GA6 are as safe as Passat.

According to the C-NCAP management rules, all the test vehicles carried out AEB test, pedestrian protection test, three real vehicle collision tests and whipping tests, and completed the scoring and star evaluation. The three real car collision tests include 100% frontal rigid barrier collision, side collision and 40% frontal offset collision.

GAC Honda Haoying was voluntarily applied for testing by the manufacturer. The model tested is the two-wheel drive premium version of 240TURBO CVT, which costs 206800 yuan. From this version, the head safety air curtain has only been installed, and the other three low-configuration models do not have a head safety air curtain.

In 40% of the front offset collision, Haoying performance is normal, there is no obvious cockpit invasion, but the front head safety air curtain coverage area is too small, the driver's head leaning forward is difficult to be protected by the head safety air curtain, there is a certain risk.

In the end, GAC Honda Haoying had a comprehensive score of 89.2% and a rating of five stars.

SAIC-Volkswagen Passat is the most popular model in this group, and the model tested is the elite version of 330TSI. The A-pillar did not bend, the cockpit was almost intact, and finally received a five-star safety assessment.

It is worth mentioning that in another insurance company led by the establishment of the "China Insurance Research C-IASI" organization, SAIC Volkswagen Passat got the worst 25% bias collision score in the history of the organization, the front cockpit was almost broken, the A-pillar was seriously bent; at the same time, due to the serious invasion caused the steering wheel to shift, the airbag was forced to drift, and the driver hit the hard object directly.

By contrast, Sinopec's C-NCAP was less demanding, so Passat got a high score. Passat can only get failing grades for the higher-standard C-IASI of China Insurance Research Institute.

Geely Geometry A, a pure electric car, also got a high score in this test, with an overall score of 89.2%. GAC MOTOR has a comprehensive scoring rate of 91.3% for GA6, with a rating of five stars.

From this result, Guangzhou Auto Honda Haoying, Volkswagen Passat, Geely Geometry A, Chuanqi GA6 are all the same safe ratings. However, the participation of the highly controversial Passat has lost a large part of the credibility of the scoring system of the C-NCAP and the agency.

Among the two different results, is the C-IASI of China Insurance Research Institute more referential, or is it the C-NCAP of China Automobile Research Institute?
