AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)05/03 Report--
After many months, the Mazda brand finally ushered in an increase in sales. Official figures show that Mazda sold 17091 units in the Chinese market in April, up 1% from a year earlier, of which 6844 were sold by Mazda 3 Oncella.
The April sales of the two major channels were 7071 units for FAW Mazda and 10020 units for Changan Mazda. No matter the number of domestic models, or sales, Changan Mazda is obviously better than FAW Mazda.
The new Mazda 3 Oncella has played a key role in boosting sales of the Mazda brand since it went on sale at the end of last year. Mazda 3 Oncera sold 6844 units in April, with a cumulative sales of 24170 from January to April, accounting for more than 45 per cent of Mazda brand sales in China.
For the rest of the models, CX-5 sold 3113 units in April, with a cumulative sales of 7900 units from January to April; Atez, a Class B sedan, sold 3095 units in April and 10036 units in January-April; and CX-4 sold 3976 units in April, with a total of 11141 units in January-April.
It means that, including domestic CX-8 and other imported models, there were only 63 units sold in April and only 195 units from January to April. The localization of medium-sized SUV CX-8 has basically declared a "failure", and it is still unknown whether there will be product updates in the future. Such a depressed sales volume is likely to eventually lead to the fate of stopping production and become the shortest-lived model made in Mazda.
In addition, sales from January to April were 53442, down 23% from a year earlier. Among them, FAW Mazda sold 21177 units and Changan Mazda sold 32265 units.
Mazda's new car sales in China fell for the second year in a row, falling 16.4 per cent to 227700 in 2019, falling short of its full-year target of 270000. With the upgrading of its products, Mazda's sales performance is also gradually recovering, but affected by the epidemic, it is more difficult to achieve the target sales by the end of the year. According to the plan, the Onksera with the new engine will be on the market, while the new domestic model CX-30 will be launched soon.
On April 26th, Changan Mazda ushered in another domestic new car, and the new CX-30 completed the domestic off-line in Nanjing factory. The new car is positioned as a small SUV with a 2.0L naturally aspirated engine to further enrich the layout of Changan Mazda's products. at the same time, the new car has a pre-sale of 12.99-176900 yuan, which is scheduled to be officially launched on May 28th. After the launch of the car, it will mark Volkswagen Tan Song, Honda Color / XR-V, Toyota Yize / C-HR, Hyundai Onchino and so on.
In addition, the Chuangchi Blue Sky SKYACTIV-X 2.0L engine produced by the Hiroshima factory of Mazda Automobile Co., Ltd. will be loaded and launched in China, first used in Mazda 3 Oncella and CX-30, and is expected to be launched in the second half of the year. The news shows that the 2.0L engine, with a maximum output power of 180hp (132kW) and peak torque of 224Nm, is equipped with SPCCI technology to achieve seamless switching between spark ignition and compression ignition to improve power output and fuel consumption performance.
Even if the CX-8 fails to hit the high end of the market, the launch of new mainstream positioning cars such as the CX-30 will further strengthen Mazda's market layout in China. Mazda, which is guided by design appearance and value marketing, is expected to recover by the end of the year.
