Although there are not many car companies revealing their April sales performance, it can be said that the growth of the absolute advantage of the above Qatong Wuling will certainly become one of the few car companies that have bucked the trend. This means that SAIC GM Wuling has gradually achieved a rebound in performance, even surpassing the market without the impact of the epidemic in the same period last year, after the overall car market was in the doldrums in the first quarter.

SAIC GM said it was able to pick up sales in April thanks to the rapid resumption of work and production, and the switch to medical substances from masks during the outbreak also helped the company achieve a certain sales boost. In addition, SAIC GM Wuling has twice provided a total of 2 billion yuan in car purchase subsidies, which also helps the company to achieve a good promoting role.

In overseas markets, SAIC GM Wuling also showed strong performance, with overseas export pictures of 5000 vehicles in April, up 102 per cent from a year earlier and a record monthly sales.

Even so, judging from the performance of SAIC GM Wuling in March and April, there are some differences. Although SAIC Wuling did not release specific sales figures in March, only claiming to exceed 130000 vehicles, it is significantly higher than SAIC GM Wuling's performance of less than 130000 vehicles in April this year. This also reflects that the sales volume under the epidemic is not very outstanding, only because SAIC GM performed very mediocre last year.

Specifically, SAIC GM Wuling's sales fell from 170000 in March last year to 106000 vehicles every other month, down 30.78% from a year earlier, and even continued to decline until September to achieve an increase of 4.3% year-on-year. So this also shows that SAIC GM Wuling was able to achieve year-on-year growth in April, or because it has been in a state of malaise in the same period last year.

But in any case, the miraculous car is still a magic car, and the Wuling Hongguang model, despite the epidemic, still firmly occupies the first place in the MPV market. After all, models such as Wuling Hongguang and Baojun all rely on the "low-cost, high-value" model to bring their own performance of rapid growth, but now that the halo is not there, there will naturally be certain challenges.

However, with the new Baojun brand launched by SAIC GM Wuling and the transformation of Wuling models since the second half of 2019, SAIC GM Wuling has gradually helped SAIC GM stabilize the market of its own low-end models, helping it to sell more than 1.66 million new cars in 2019, making it the top seller of branded cars in China.
