AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)05/06 Report--

When it comes to Mercedes-Benz's flagship SUV, it must be the GLS, but there is another more specifically positioned G-Class in Mercedes-Benz's SUV line, which is also a flagship. However, the Big G of Mercedes-Benz's flagship SUV model has been reported to be launching a four-cylinder model.

According to the news exposed online, Mercedes-Benz China will add a new G350 with chassis code W463.210, which will be a new entry-level Mercedes-Benz G-class model with a 2.0T 4-cylinder engine codenamed M264. It is understood that the news came from the relevant backstage of a dealer, but Mercedes-Benz has not yet made a relevant response to the matter.

Judging from the picture, what will be introduced is the G350 code-named W463.210 and carries the M264 engine. According to the current Mercedes-Benz models on sale, models with M264 engines are involved in both the S-class and the CLS class, and all use the four-cylinder model as the entry-level model, that is, if the news is accurate, it will be the entry-level model of the "Big G".

Among the Mercedes-Benz G-Class models currently on sale, only the G500 chassis code 463.260 and the G63 AMG chassis code 463.276, both 8-cylinder models. Although Mercedes-Benz G-Class has previously launched a lower-equipped G350 in 2017 models, it is also a six-cylinder model. It means that with the current car companies, in the face of increasingly stringent domestic emission regulations, they have to consider low-configuration models that are more in line with emission policies. At the same time, it can also lower the price threshold of models and avoid high taxes and fees through lower costs.

From the current S-level entry version of the S 320 L, it is expected that "Big G" will also carry 2.0T plus 48V power matching to achieve the satisfaction of power output. As can be seen from the weight of the parameters, its maximum power 220kW will match the 9-speed manual self-integrated gearbox. Although it is an entry-level model, the iconic "three locks" are not expected to be absent.

However, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, as a Mercedes-Benz SUV, is also a Peugeot of tough Guy, so a low-power version with four cylinders may lose its features. And the Mercedes-Benz S-Class has previously announced that it will abolish the 2.0T four-cylinder engine, which may not only be not in line with its temperament when used in millions of luxury cars, but also shows that 2.0T power still has its inherent ceilings and is not suitable for all classes of cars.

And from the top million executive car market in China, the proportion of the four-cylinder version of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is very small, while more than 90% of the sales of Mercedes-Benz S-Class models are contributed by the 3.0T power version. so even the introduction of entry-level G-class models will inevitably bring good sales, not to mention that consumers who can choose Mercedes-Benz flagship models will not care about the price and give up the driving experience. Therefore, whether the Mercedes-Benz G-Class will adopt a more entry-level 2.0T4 cylinder engine is still a mystery.
