AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)05/09 Report--

According to the latest report of market research firm SNE Research, in the first quarter of this year, South Korea's LG chemical power battery market share surpassed Japan's Panasonic and China's Ningde era to become the world's largest supplier of electric vehicle batteries in the first quarter of 2020.

According to the data, LG Chemical's market share was 27.1% in the first quarter, and the installed capacity of power batteries in the first quarter was 5.5Gwh, up 120% from 2.5Gwh in the same period last year. The agency pointed out that the growth in LG chemical installation is mainly due to the strong performance of Tesla's domestic Model 3, Renault ZOE and Audi e-tron, all of which are currently equipped with LG chemical power batteries.

According to the global electric vehicle sales data released by EV Sales, Tesla Model 3 sold 71513 vehicles worldwide in the first quarter, second only to Model 3, Renault ZOE sold 20711 vehicles, and Audi e-tron sold 10659 vehicles.

It is understood that Ningde Times ranked first in the world with 23.4% market share in the first quarter of last year, Panasonic and BYD ranked second and third with 22.9% and 15.1% market share respectively, while LG Chemical ranked fourth with 10.7% market share. A year later, the Ningde era was overtaken not only by LG Chemical, but also by Panasonic. According to the ranking, Panasonic ranked second with 25.7% market share, while Ningde Times fell to third place from 23.4% last year to 17.4%. In addition, South Korean power battery giants Samsung SDI and SKI ranked fourth and seventh with 6.0% and 4.5% market share, respectively.

According to statistics, domestic sales of new energy vehicles in the first quarter of this year were 101692. Among the top 10 new energy models, Ningde Times participated in the battery supply of five models, but even so, the installed capacity of power batteries in Ningde era in the first quarter was surpassed by LG Chemical and Panasonic.

Ningde's retreating from the first place in the world to the third place in the world has a lot to do with this year's epidemic. As a result of the massive outbreak of the domestic epidemic in February, automakers have announced a shutdown of production, resulting in a sharp decline in installed capacity in the local market. Of course, from the perspective of long-term development, there is still a great chance to return to the top of the list in the Ningde era in 2020. The current domestic situation is improving, and the sustained recovery of the new energy vehicle market provides benefits for the next development of the Ningde era. In addition, Ningde era has also become Tesla's only battery supplier in China, which is undoubtedly a good opportunity for Ningde era to catch up with its competitors. At the same time, epidemic prevention and control in overseas markets, especially in Europe and the United States, is still in an important stage, which to a certain extent weakens the supply capacity of battery suppliers such as LG Chemical, Panasonic and Samsung SDI.

全球电池供应商格局再变化,宁德时代占有率下滑至第三

By 2019, Ningde era has ranked first in the world in power battery installation for three consecutive years, providing battery supply to SAIC, Guangzhou Automobile, Geely, Dongfeng, Daimler and other car companies. In 2020, the installed capacity of power batteries in Ningde era fell sharply, resulting in a decline in revenue and profits of 9.53% and 29.14% in the first quarter.
