AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)05/11 Report--
In the domestic joint venture brands, including BMW, Honda, Volkswagen and other automobile enterprises have developed and promoted three-cylinder engine models, but not large-scale popularization, in contrast, GM's three-cylinder engine is more exciting, its models include Buick Yinglang, Weilang and Chevrolet Cruze models only have three-cylinder engine options.
After the popularization of three-cylinder engines, the market reputation and sales volume of SAIC GM models have declined seriously. Even if the technical strength is good, it is difficult to make up for consumers 'prejudice against three-cylinder engines. After the promotion of three-cylinder engines in the Chinese market was blocked, SAIC GM considered adding four-cylinder engines while implementing the "three-cylinder engine" loading plan in China.
Today, Chevrolet's two entry-level cars, Cruze and Kovos, usher in brand-new power models, among which Cruze adds four hybrid models with a price range of 108,900 yuan-122,900 yuan; Kovos adds two 1.3L manual transmission models with a price range of 799 - 88,900 yuan.
Last month, Coruze added two new models-Coruze 320 automatic enjoyment version and Yuechang version. The new car is equipped with a 1.5L four-cylinder engine with a maximum power of 83kW and a peak torque of 141N·m, combined with a 6-speed DSS intelligent gearbox. A month later, Koruze added four new models. The appearance of the new models is consistent with that of the current models. The length, width and height of the new models are 4614×1798×1485mm and the wheelbase is 2640mm respectively. In terms of power, the Koruze Light Hybrid Redline 320T Happy Edition and the Cool Edition are equipped with 1.0T engine, with maximum power of 92kw and peak torque of 170N·m, matching 6-speed DSS intelligent gearbox; Koruze Light Hybrid RS 330T Happy Edition and Happy Edition are equipped with 1.3T engine, with maximum power of 130kW and peak torque of 230Nm, matching 6-speed DSS intelligent gearbox. Since then, Kaluze's current models on sale have been expanded to 7 models, with prices ranging from 899 to 122,900 yuan.
Two new models have been added to the original model, both equipped with a 1.3L naturally aspirated engine with a maximum power of 79kW and a peak torque of 130N·m, matching a 5-speed manual transmission. Because it is a new model, the new car has not changed in appearance and interior design, only in terms of power and configuration. Since then, Kovoz's current model on sale has also been expanded to five versions with a price range of 799 - 99,900 yuan.
SAIC GM is expected to further increase sales after changing its four-cylinder engine. In April, SAIC GM Buick replaced its Yinglang engine with a 1.5L four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine. The improvement of configuration and the increase of terminal preferential margin increased Buick Yinglang sales by 97.4% to 22880 vehicles in April.
Of course, the new four-cylinder engine model does not mean that SAIC GM gives up the strategy of three-cylinder powertrain. According to Qian Huikang, president of GM China, from the perspective of fuel consumption and power output, the three-cylinder engine still has great advantages, but many consumers have certain concerns about the three-cylinder engine, and the Chinese market is GM's largest single market, so it will gain a greater say in product development. Therefore, for SAIC GM, the new four-cylinder engine is only to meet the demand of consumers for car purchase and to cope with market competition.
