FAW Mazda finally became a regular worker. FAW Group has completed the asset exchange of FAW cars and FAW Jiefang, so the listed company FAW cars officially changed its name to FAW Jiefang, and its main business was changed to commercial vehicles; while the two major passenger car brands of FAW Pentium and FAW Mazda were all bought out, and the Mazda brand was upgraded internally.

According to official sources, FAW Group has adjusted its management relationship with FAW Mazda, changing the main body of cooperation with Japan's Mazda from FAW Pentium car Co., Ltd. to FAW Group, which will hold a 60% stake in FAW Mazda Automobile sales Co., Ltd.

In addition, FAW Group will set up a Mazda Division, which will be responsible for the whole value chain business operation of FAW Mazda brand, which is at the same management level as FAW-Volkswagen, FAW Toyota and other companies within the group. Yang Dayong, former deputy general manager of FAW Pentium car Co., Ltd., serves as the head of the business department.

It is easy to understand that FAW Mazda is now a subsidiary of FAW Group and is no longer a subsidiary of FAW Pentium car Co., Ltd., in terms of management relationship, FAW Mazda has been upgraded internally.

It is understood that FAW cars and Mazda are limited to technical cooperation and car sales, and the joint venture companies of the two sides do not have vehicle production business. FAW car was first put into production in Changchun FAW car factory by means of technical cooperation in 2003. In order to cooperate with the sales of Mazda 6, FAW and Mazda jointly established FAW Mazda Automobile sales Co., Ltd in 2005, which is a sales company without vehicle production business, while FAW Mazda models are produced by FAW sedans. It is said that in recent years, Mazda and FAW cars have negotiated to set up a comprehensive joint venture to break the situation of FAW car contract manufacturing, but this negotiation has not been successful.

FAW Mazda officially stopped production of four models of Mazda CX-7, Mazda 6, Mazda 8 and Mazda Rui Wing in 2016, and only these two models have been produced and sold after leaving only CX-4 and Atez. In 2018, FAW Mazda sold 108436 units, down 12.3% from the same period last year; in 2019, FAW Mazda sold 91416 units, down 16.5% from the same period last year.

The change of FAW Mazda's management relationship within FAW Group is expected to make FAW Mazda regain development opportunities, especially in the introduction of new models, FAW Mazda has been at a standstill for several years. On the contrary, Changan Mazda has introduced new domestic models of CX-8 and CX-30, and has also completed the loading and listing of imported Mazda Chuangchi Blue Sky SKYACTIV-X 2.0L engine in China.

FAW Mazda is at the same management level as FAW-Volkswagen, FAW Toyota and other companies within the group, so FAW Mazda will get more resources and priority in the future to get rid of the current stagnation.
