AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)05/14 Report--

China Insurance Research CIASI is a popular testing institution in China's automobile industry in recent years, and a number of domestic / joint venture cars have been knocked out of poor safety structure reviews, and even treat Chinese consumers differently. Recently, the PICC Research CIASI officially released the 2019 evaluation results research report, a total of 27 models were evaluated in the whole year, the study found that the global vehicle safety performance gap in the Chinese and American markets still exists, but significantly narrowed.

Among the 27 models (including 14 cars and 13 SUV) evaluated by CIASI in 2019, there are 26 traditional models and 1 new energy model, of which 8 are self-applied for evaluation.

The results show that in terms of crashworthiness and maintenance economic index, there are 3 models with good evaluation (A), 5 models with general evaluation (M), and others with poor (P) evaluation, and 11% of them get good or above evaluation.

In terms of occupant safety index (including frontal 25% offset collision, side collision, roof strength, seat / headrest), there are 17 models with excellent evaluation (G), 2 models with good evaluation (A), 8 models with general (M) evaluation, and 70% of the models with good or above evaluation.

General (M) evaluation models include Ling Pai, Outlander, AX7, Festa, Saab D50, Pentium T77, Passat, INSPIRE.

In terms of the safety index of outsiders, 26 models have been well evaluated and above, accounting for 96%. In terms of vehicle auxiliary safety, 23 of the 24 test models equipped with FCW/AEB got good (A) and above evaluation, accounting for 96%.

The CIASI report of the China Insurance Research Institute shows that the safety technology level of the tested models has been steadily improved compared with the previous models. The research shows that the basic safety configuration rate of the evaluated vehicle model has increased year by year, with the standard allocation rate of 100% for the front side airbag and 59% for the head side air curtain.

It is worth saying that the SAIC Volkswagen 2019 Passat is the most controversial evaluation model, and its low-equipped model failed miserably in the test, not only due to structural safety problems, but also partly due to the lack of air curtains on the side of the head. resulting in multiple injuries to drivers. However, the 2020 Passat launched by SAIC Volkswagen this year has listed the air curtain on the side of the head as the standard configuration of the original factory.

The annual report also pointed out that there is still a gap in the safety performance of global models in the Chinese and US markets, but it has significantly narrowed. Among the 12 global models tested in 2019, the excellent proportion of occupant safety index has improved significantly compared with previous years. Of these, 25% of the positive 25% offset collision C-IASI rated as excellent only 25% in 2018, rising to 73% in 2019, while 91% were rated by the American Highway Safety Insurance Association (IIHS) in the same program.

In terms of side collisions, the percentage of excellent candidates evaluated by C-IASI increased to 83% from 33% in 2018. In terms of top pressure and seat / headrest test, the excellent proportion of C-IASI test was 92%.

The CIASI of China Insurance Research Institute will have a greater impact on the "car-building mode" of domestic car companies. The behavior of some car companies that cut corners and reduce production and distribution will be curbed in the short term, and at the same time urge manufacturers to raise safety standards and pay more attention to the structural safety of vehicles in the process of research and development.
