It is understood that Fulin Seiko issued a notice on May 22 that the company recently signed a "vehicle Reducer Purchasing Project Agreement" with Huawei Technology Co., Ltd. the company has been identified as a supplier of Huawei new energy vehicle reducers and related parts, and the two sides will cooperate in the field of new energy electric drive assembly around core technical products and industrial resources in the future.

According to the Securities Times, a relevant person in Huawei's brand department responded that the company has no plans to build a complete car, it is not clear what the parts and components involved in the announcement will be used for purchase, and the information is being verified internally.

At the beginning of this year, Zheng Gang, former general manager of BAIC New Energy, joined Huawei as chief strategy officer of BU, Huawei's smart car solution. In June 2019, Huawei issued an internal document announcing the establishment of BU, a smart car solution, under the management of the ICT Management Committee. Huawei says the position of the unit is to provide ICT components and solutions for smart cars to help car companies build good cars.

Ren Zhengfei, founder of Huawei, has previously said that Huawei does not "build cars", but only "gives life" to the car-building field. At the same time, Huawei will focus on 5G and information and communication technology for a long time, and is becoming an incremental component supplier for intelligent networked vehicles, providing products and services to mainframe manufacturers in areas such as smart Internet connection, smart driving, smart cockpit, smart electric and cloud services.

In terms of intelligent driving, Huawei has built an intelligent driving operating system and MDC intelligent driving platform based on Huawei Chateng chip, and will take the lead in the research and development of lidar and millimeter wave radar for unmanned vehicles; in terms of intelligent cockpit, Huawei has built an intelligent cockpit platform based on Kirin chip and Hongmeng operating system. In terms of cloud services, Huawei has realized vehicle-road coordination and vehicle network connection management by using 4G, 5G and V2X technology.

In May 2020, Huawei joined FAW Group, SAIC Group, BAIC Group, BYD, Great Wall Automobile and other 18 automobile companies to establish the "5G Automobile Biosphere" to accelerate the commercial process of 5G technology in the automobile industry.

Huawei has long made it clear that it will not set foot across the border in the field of automobile manufacturing, mainly in electronic parts such as vehicle networking and intelligent driving. Huawei's purchase of new energy electric drive assembly components from suppliers will undoubtedly be a step for Huawei to expand its business scope.
