A few days ago, Harald Miller, president of the Jetta brand, said in an interview with the media that they are considering expanding the Jetta brand to the market outside China, because in their view, the new Jetta brand is in the domestic market. Eight months after its establishment and launch, it has achieved initial results, arousing Volkswagen's interest in promoting entry-level brand models such as Jetta to other markets around the world.
Muller also mentioned that Volkswagen has been working hard to develop economical cars for the global market, but it is difficult to rationalize the plan because of the need to invest more research costs. as a result, Volkswagen does not have much competitiveness in economic markets around the world.
In fact, Volkswagen independent Jetta brand, has been ready to enter the domestic low-end market, and in this short period of less than half a year, Jetta brand also achieved good performance in the domestic market. Although it is said that it currently has only three models, namely the VS5 and VS7 of the VA3,SUV market, it won an average monthly sales of 10,000 units in the first few months of listing by Volkswagen, which is obviously superior to many domestic car companies, and the monthly sales of the VS5 model alone have exceeded 10,000 units many times.
However, with the domestic epidemic and market saturation, perhaps Volkswagen feels a little weak with such achievements, so it feels that there are already some successful Jetta brands in China. it may also be able to achieve a certain increase in market share in some foreign regions, so there is such an idea. after all, Volkswagen does not have as many entry-level economical models as Japanese brands in many overseas markets.
As for which overseas markets Volkswagen will sell to, there are also industry insiders to analyze. At present, the Jetta brand is most likely to be sold to Russia and Southeast Asian markets, where, after all, there is a more consumer market for cheaper models, and closer to China, making it easier to export. Compared with this part of the market, Europe and North America are less likely, not only because German cars are slightly outside Japanese cars in the North American market, but also because German cars do not worry in the eyes of Americans. In Europe, as Volkswagen has laid out a number of brands, there is not much room for Jetta brand survival.
Although the Jetta brand is not listed as Volkswagen LOGO, its models also rely on Volkswagen's "three pieces" and core technology to maintain the highest standard of FAW-Volkswagen in order to achieve its brand's best-selling in China. According to its latest sales data, it has accumulated 96500 new cars so far, including 63200 Jetta VS5, 23900 Jetta VA3 and 9400 Jetta VS7. In April this year, the Jetta brand sold 13508 vehicles, up 45.2% from the previous month, helping FAW-Volkswagen sales become a new growth point.
