Not long ago, Honda officially announced a global recall of 1.37 million vehicles because of engine flameout caused by faulty fuel pumps. Recently, Guangzhou Auto Honda and Dongfeng Honda both filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration and decided to recall these defective cars.

Guangzhou Automobile Honda recalled some domestic Acura TLX-L, Acura CDX, Acura RDX, Fengfan, Odyssey, Crown Road, Colour Zhi, Feido, Ling Pai and Accord series cars produced during the period from July 1, 2018 to December 31, 2018, totaling 396149.

Dongfeng Honda recalled a total of 378625 domestic GREIZ, GIENIA, JADE, CIVIC, SPIRIOR, INSPIRE, XR-V, CR-V, UR-V and ELYSION cars produced during the period from July 1, 2018 to December 31, 2018.

This involves a total of 774800 domestic models of the Honda brand, covering almost a full range of domestic models.

The reason for the defect is that the resin density of the impeller is insufficient due to the imperfect resin forming conditions in the manufacturing process of the fuel pump impeller. The impeller may be inflated and deformed under the influence of fuel, and interfere with the fuel pump shell, resulting in the poor operation of the fuel pump. In extreme conditions, the engine may flameout while the vehicle is running, and there is a safety hidden danger.

The solution is that Honda will replace the improved fuel pump for free for vehicles within the scope of the recall.

In fact, a large-scale recall of fuel pumps produced by Japanese Denso has broken out earlier, and the cause of the defect is exactly the same, which led to the problems of a number of Japanese brands one after another and announced large-scale recalls. Specifically, including Subaru, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and other Japanese brands are involved.

GAC-Mitsubishi has announced a recall of 175000 Yige, Outlander and Jinxuan cars and Changan Mazda recalled 77000 CX-5 cars after the engine stalled due to the fuel pump. Toyota has recalled as many as 3.2 million vehicles worldwide, involving models in the Chinese market.

On April 18, 2020, a number of Toyota companies jointly filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, and decided to recall some imported and domestic cars, involving a total of 257000 models, including Toyota Hanlanda, Camry, Prado, Crown, Lexus IS, NX, RX and so on.

For the Honda brand, there have been a number of failures involving engine power output. Earlier, Guangzhou Automobile Honda Accord broke out "stall door", engine misfire while driving, resulting in limited vehicle acceleration, and so on. The reason given by Honda after investigation is the design of air velocity at the exit of engine intercooler.

While driving, engine flameout is a great safety hidden danger. It is hoped that manufacturers will arrange a recall as soon as possible, and car owners will replace problematic fuel pump parts as soon as possible to eliminate the hidden danger of engine flameout.
