AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)05/31 Report--
Nissan, one of the representatives of Japanese brands, seems to have been depressed since the ouster of former CEO Ghosn, and its performance has repeatedly fallen to its lowest profit level in nearly 11 years. To revive the current lacklustre market performance, Nissan has also announced a "Nissan Next" medium-term plan and expects to launch 12 new cars worldwide by 2021.
According to Nissan's trailer for the new car 'Nissan Next:From A to Z', there are 12 models, including Ariya, Armada, Frontier, Jinke, Loulan, Navara, Note, Pathfinder, Qashqai, Qijun, Terra and Z Series, covering Nissan sedans, SUV, all-electric and sports cars.
Although the trailer does not show the details of each model, according to the layout of the model, it is basically occupied by the SUV model, with as many as eight models, in addition to two pick-up trucks, one car model and one sports car model, which means that Nissan will still focus on the SUV model for the future market. Although most of the models are North American models, half of the models will be introduced into the domestic market, so as to realize the expansion and recovery of Nissan in China.
As can be seen from the trailer of the film, most of Nissan's new cars are imported into Nissan's new generation of V-Motion design language.
It is worth noting that Nissan will also announce the new Nissan Z-series sports car. Although the name of the new car has not been confirmed, the trailer still uses a two-door coupe shape. According to people familiar with the matter, the new car design is inspired by the classic car Nissan 240Z, and the front part uses the latest unique round LED lighting design, which is the only car that does not use V-Motion style.
Although most of the models launched by Nissan are fuel models, Nissan is also accelerating the electrification process, aiming to launch more than eight electric vehicle models by the end of 2023 and plans to sell more than 1 million electric vehicles a year, expanding the global market for E-power Class B and C cars.
In addition, according to Nissan's global plan, the company aims to return to profitability by 2023, and the new strategy includes reducing global production by 20 per cent to 5.4 million vehicles. According to Nissan's cumulative global sales of only 4.93 million vehicles in fiscal 2019, down 10.6% from the same period last year, it is also the first time in seven years that Nissan has sold less than 5 million vehicles. Therefore, for Nissan, there is an urgent need for more new products to help it achieve higher sales.
In the Chinese market, Nissan's current product formation is also relatively backward, so that its competitiveness in the same level of market continues to decline, especially in SUV plastic surgery. Data show that Nissan sold 1.547 million vehicles in China in 2019, down 1.1% from the same period last year. Although the decline is not small, it has formed a big contrast with the high growth of Honda and Toyota, and even slipped from the top-selling Japanese brand in China to the third place.
In this regard, Nissan will launch more new models within 18 months, at the same time, it will also accelerate the introduction of domestic Dongfeng Nissan models, in order to realize the recovery of Dongfeng Nissan in the Chinese market.
According to Ashwani Gupta, Nissan's board member, Nissan representative executive, chief operating officer and chief performance officer, Nissan will make use of the alliance's superior resources in other regions to boost its operations in the Chinese market, and the model update will be shortened to 3-5 years. Therefore, there will be more "Chinese special models" in the future.
