A few days ago, a photo of a suspected SAIC internal meeting was circulated on the Internet. Following SAIC GM Buick's new GL8 model and SAIC Volkswagen's new Volkswagen, SAIC Roewe will also launch a high-end MPV model, also known as high-end MPV three swordsmen, to further seize China's middle and high-end MPV market.

Judging from the photos released this time, the model, named iM8, is a 200000-yuan MPV model under the Roewe brand, and is expected to go on sale in the third quarter of this year. As a domestic MPV model, its competitor model will undoubtedly be GAC MOTOR GM8 (from 179800) and so on. As SAIC pricing is higher than Roewe brand, the starting price of iM8 mass production version is expected to be around 190000.

In fact, Roewe's first MPV-iM8 concept model has been officially released before, designed by Shao Jingfeng, a famous domestic automobile designer, and his team. The appearance adopts the latest digital rhythm design language, and hangs the brand-new lion logo that has just been released. From the appearance, the car is not even inferior to Lexus LM.

As a concept car, compared with the front part of the car from the side point of view, the car does not use a lot of exaggeration, the whole is still more traditional MPV styling design, adding a more technological design of side sliding doors, huge rims, and two-color roof. The tail is relatively simple, the rear bar into a more unique design.

Although its specific body size has not been exposed, according to the information of the concept car, the car is more than 5m long and the wheelbase is 3m.

The interior design is also unknown, but given SAIC's positioning for its flagship MPV, Roewe iM8 may still have the dignified comfort.

In terms of power, the new car is expected to be equipped with a steam blue core 2.0T turbocharged engine with a maximum power of 170kW and a peak torque of 370N ·m.

Although according to the current domestic MPV market, the high-end MPV market has been basically locked by its Buick GL8, but with the increasing demand of the domestic MPV market, more and more car companies enter to seize market share, including Volkswagen, Toyota and other brands. For domestic MPV models are still relatively few, so SAIC is planning to launch domestic high-end MPV models, it can also be seen that SAIC has taken the lead in seizing the domestic high-end MPV market.
