AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)06/05 Report--
Mercedes-Benz once again issued a recall in China because of low-level mistakes. Mercedes-Benz (China) filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration on June 5, recalling some imported G-class vehicles from February 14, 2018 to September 24, 2019, totaling 4653 vehicles.
The reason for the recall is that due to a deviation in the development process, the wrong child protective lock label may have been imprinted on the rear door of some vehicles, indicating the wrong child protective lock status. Incorrect imprinting symbols may lead to a misunderstanding of the locked state of the child protective lock, causing the rear door to open from the inside, even though it is considered to be locked, or not from the inside, although it is considered unlocked, it may cause or increase the risk of injury to passengers in the second row, resulting in safety risks. In response, Mercedes-Benz (China) will affix the correct child protective lock label on the rear doors of the affected vehicles free of charge to eliminate safety risks.
This is the fourth time that Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall message because of low-level errors in the Chinese market this year. As a German luxury brand, such frequent low-level mistakes have made Chinese consumers lose their eyesight. Such low-level production mistakes also prove that Mercedes-Benz is inattentive to details.
On January 10th, Mercedes-Benz announced a recall of its domestic GLB model because the wire harness under the second row of seats may not be routed in accordance with the specifications, affecting the normal operation of the airbags on the side of the second row of seats, the early warning of seat belts, and the warning of seat locking.
Mercedes-Benz China filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration on March 20, deciding to recall some imported C-Class and GLC SUV vehicles, totaling 4884. Due to the deviation in the production process of this part of the vehicle, the airbag warning label of the incorrect country may be installed on the front passenger side sunshade. The legend on the label indicating the correct use of the child seat and the accompanying explanation may not contain Chinese and do not meet the requirements of the relevant national mandatory standards. The solution is to replace the visor (including warning labels).
On April 17, Mercedes-Benz announced a recall of some old imported C-Class, CLK-Class, CLS-Class and E-Class cars, totaling 1622 and 1622, as well as 545 old domestic E-Class cars. The reason is that the bonding between the glass panels of the vehicle sliding skylight and the skylight frame may not conform to the specifications, in which case the performance of the bonding may gradually diminish over time, unable to ensure the specific durability requirements of the bonding, causing the skylight panels to be separated from the vehicle, increasing the risk of accidents or injury to other road users.
In the past year, Mercedes-Benz low-level mistakes also occurred frequently, such as "missed installation of active brake auxiliary system", "mixed bolts of engine components", "misinstallation of catalytic converter" and so on, and even led to consumer complaints and claims.
As a front-line luxury brand, as a German craft car company, frequent low-level mistakes will only make people laugh. Automobile products are made up of thousands of parts, and it is impossible to have no problems, but low-level mistakes like the above can be avoided in the production process, but this happens to Mercedes-Benz. It's hard to believe that this happens frequently to a century-old luxury brand.
