The Federation said that in May, Tesla's new energy sales ranked first, sole proprietorship and joint ventures had a strong performance, and new forces such as Lulai became an important force in the new energy car market. It means that traditional car companies such as BYD and BAIC New Energy, as well as new power car-making enterprises such as Lulai and Xiaopeng, are also unable to compete with Tesla's competitive advantage.

Sales of domestic Model 3 reached 10160 in March this year, exceeding 10,000 for the first time. With the release and price adjustment of the long-haul version of the domestic Model 3, the domestic Model 3 fell to only 3635 in April. Tesla reportedly suspended the delivery of the standard battery life upgrade version of the Model 3 that month, delaying the delivery in April to May.

In order to comply with the latest new energy subsidy policy, the price of the standard battery life and upgrade version of domestic Model 3 was lowered from 303550 yuan to 291800 yuan on May 2, with a subsidised price of 271550 yuan. By contrast, BYD sold 46512 new energy vehicles from January to May, down 61 per cent from a year earlier, of which BYD sold 36354 pure electric passenger vehicles, down 61.4 per cent from a year earlier.

According to the new power car companies, the delivery volume in May was 3436, an increase of 215.5% over the same period last year, and a total of 10429 new cars were delivered in the first five months.

In May, wholesale sales of new energy passenger vehicles nationwide were 70200, down 25.8% from the same period last year, including 56000 pure electric vehicles, down 27% from the same period last year, according to the Federation of passengers. This means that Tesla's domestic Model 3 accounts for nearly 20 per cent of the pure electric vehicle market.

The continuous price reduction of Tesla's domestic Model 3 will be a "disaster" to domestic new energy vehicles. Ideal car CEO Li Xiang once said that the adjustment of the new energy subsidy policy has given Tesla the reason and necessity to reduce prices. Tesla's next countermeasures and pricing will be a disaster. At the same time, the subsidy policy is basically an accurate assist to Tesla to cripple domestic pure electric brands.
