Malibu as one of the main Chevrolet models, was born in 1964, has been 56 years, can be said to be one of its classic models. At first, the model was located as a medium-sized sedan and named Chevelle, while the top model of its series was named Malibu (Malibu). Due to its good results after its launch, Chevrolet replaced the Chevelle as an independent car system.

Until 2011, Chevrolet brought the eighth generation Malibu to the domestic market and named the Marebo model. It was only officially launched in February 2012, and quickly sold well after the launch of the model, and achieved a good market performance by being higher than the performance-to-price ratio of the same class of models. and in Kia K5, the eighth generation of Hyundai Sonata once became the B-class "Sanbao magic car".

However, with the decline in sales in the global car market, the rise of self-brand models in the domestic car market and the increasingly strong "Matthew effect" of mainstream brands, American brands are gradually declining in China. For example, Ford just announced that it would stop producing Mondeo models, which has declined in recent years, so that Mondeo can not achieve significant sales growth in all regions.

As a result of Marebo's previous revamping of Marebo in the domestic market in 2015, it adopted the design elements of overseas ninth-generation Malibu to launch new models, and through the measure of "co-selling old and new models in the same house", the two models were divided into Mirebo and Marebo XL models, and the Marebo model was explored at a lower price to help maintain a certain sales volume. As Chevrolet stopped production of the Marebo model in 2018, Chevrolet gradually stopped selling the model, leaving only the Marebo XL for sale.

It has to be said that the XL, which has a 1.3T engine and let its price drop to 120000, has allowed consumers to buy models of more than 4.9m through the price of A-Class cars, which is attractive to the market. However, due to the poor performance of the Chevrolet brand in China, Marebo appears lukewarm in China, but the Chevrolet brand is one of the main supporting models in China.

Earlier, Chevrolet announced that the Cruz, Volanda and Impala would also stop production, so that GM's car models will be further reduced. As for the domestic SAIC GM Chevrolet Malibu, there is still no news about whether it will stop production, and perhaps it is not known whether it will become a domestic "special supply model" like Ford Mondeo. After all, for GM, China is one of its main markets, accounting for 39.9% of sales in 2019.

The data show that Malibu sold only 131900 vehicles in the United States in 2019, down from 227900 in 2016, which may be why Chevrolet will stop producing a number of models whose sales are declining. After all, cars are not very competitive in North America.
