According to the information on the website of the State Market Supervision Administration, Chongqing Lifan passenger car Co., Ltd. filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration in accordance with the requirements of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products and the measures for the implementation of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products. It is decided to recall a total of 3651 Lifan 650EV300 pure electric vehicles produced from December 11, 2017 to December 31, 2018 from July 1, 2020. It is worth mentioning that the number of recalls exceeded Lifan's sales in the past five months, with Lifan selling less than 1500 traditional passenger cars and new energy vehicles in the first five months of this year.

According to the announcement, there are three main reasons for the recall of pure electric vehicles: 1. There is interference in the distribution of high voltage wire harness in the power battery package during the manufacturing process, which may lead to insulation wear and short circuit in the subsequent use. 2. There is a risk of loosening of copper bar connection screws in battery bushings. 3. The charging temperature threshold of the power battery pack is too high, so there is a certain safety risk in the case of using fast charging for a long time. Due to the above reasons, in extreme cases, the power battery pack may have the risk of thermal runaway and fire, and there is a hidden danger of safety.

In this regard, Chongqing Lifan passenger cars will be free of charge for the recall within the scope of the vehicle to take the following measures to eliminate safety risks. 1, improve the fixing mode of bus copper bar bolts, increase thread glue to prevent loosening; 2, check the high voltage wire harness in the battery package, replace the aging and worn wire harness and adjust the wiring harness layout; 3, check the battery module and replace the modules with quality risks; 4. Upgrade the BMS software of the battery management system and improve the charging strategy. 5. Check the seal of the battery bag, and repair or replace the battery bag box which has hidden trouble.

It is understood that Lifan 650EV is the first new energy vehicle launched by Lifan Automobile, positioning compact pure electric car, officially launched at the Chongqing Auto Show on June 6, 2018, the new car launched a total of two models, the official guidance price is 16.89-175800 yuan, the subsidised price is 7.99-86800 yuan, and the comprehensive mileage exceeds 300km.

However, according to the inquiry of the car quality network, the number of complaints about this car is not high. There have been only seven complaints since it was put on the market in 2018, and the complaints are not concentrated, including steering system failure, brake system abnormal noise, power battery failure and so on. Of course, the low number of complaints is not necessarily without quality problems, or it may be because there is no share in the market, and the specific sales of this car can no longer be found online, although the car has not stopped production and sale yet. however, from the sales of Lifan, it can also be predicted that the sales of this car will not be very high.

In fact, Lifan does not have a strong sense of existence in the market, but it is at the forefront of public opinion because of poor management. In May 2019, a number of dealers went to Chongqing Lifan Automobile headquarters to protect their rights because Lifan Motor sold cars to non-dealers at low prices. In October 2019, the media reported that four car companies, including Lifan Automobile, would enter bankruptcy proceedings at the end of the year. Lifan Automobile issued a clarification notice saying that the report was untrue, but the company was indeed in high debt and under greater pressure on capital liquidity. In November 2019, a CCTV reporter visited the production base where Lifan Motor is located and found that the Lifan automobile production line was in a state of semi-shutdown and that employees were in arrears of wages.

In 2020, due to the downward trend of the car market and the risk of epidemic situation, as well as product quality and enterprise strategy and other issues, the operating situation of Lifan in the domestic market is worrying. In terms of performance, Lifan achieved operating income of 560 million yuan in the first quarter, down 74.88% from the same period last year; the net loss of shareholders belonging to listed companies was 197 million yuan, down 103.06% from the same period last year; in terms of sales, Lifan's traditional passenger car sales fell 95.49% to 887 from January to May, and new energy vehicle sales fell 54.5% to 460 from January to May, that is to say, Lifan's sales in the previous May were only 1347.

According to the data, Lifan brand was founded in 1992, acquired Chongqing Special purpose Automobile Factory in 2003, founded Lifan Automobile, and formally obtained the autonomy of automobile manufacturing, production and sales in December 2005. Until now, it has been 14 years since the development of the automobile industry, Lifan Automobile has achieved product renewal through replication, but it has failed to form its own advantages in technology, product strength and service. In the epidemic, Lifan is teetering in the market, car sales are very low, it can be said that the automobile business has almost been abandoned. In the context of the pick-up in sales of a number of car companies, if there is no strategy to improve the development of the automobile business, Lifan Motor may not escape the fate of being eliminated by the market.
