GAC Honda Haoying became another joint venture brand model that failed miserably in the 25% bias crash test on the front of the China Insurance Research C-IASI. The A-pillar was seriously bent and the door almost fell off, which disappointed many expectant consumers. In response to the safety issue of the collision test, GAC Honda officials said that Haoying meets the C-NCAP five-star safety certification.
In its May sales report, Guangzhou Auto Honda sold a total of 13271 Haoying models that month, an increase of 5.5% from the previous month, and its monthly sales reached an all-time high in the past six months. Guangzhou Auto Honda also stressed that in the first batch of C-NCAP evaluation in 2020, Haoying model was awarded C-NCAP five-star safety certification with a comprehensive score rate of 92.15%.
Haoying won the five-star safety certification rating in C-NCAP, but did not perform well in PICC Research C-IASI. Who is more reliable?
According to the official website of C-NCAP, in 2020, Guangzhou Auto Honda manufacturers took the initiative to apply to C-NCAP for the collision test of Haoying models, which was the same test batch as SAIC-Volkswagen Passat, and finally obtained five-star safety rating after AEB test, pedestrian protection test, three real car collision tests and whipping tests. Three of the real vehicle collision tests include 100% frontal rigid barrier collision, side collision and 40% frontal offset collision.
GAC Honda Haoying is a model that manufacturers voluntarily applied to participate in the test. the model tested is the two-wheel drive premium version of 240TURBO CVT, which costs 206800 yuan, but only from this version has a head safety air curtain been installed, and the other three low-configuration models do not have a head safety air curtain.
In 40% of the front offset collision, Haoying performance is normal, there is no obvious cockpit invasion, but the front head safety air curtain coverage area is too small, the driver's head leaning forward is difficult to be protected by the head safety air curtain, there is a certain risk. In the end, the comprehensive score rate of Guangzhou Auto Honda Haoying is 92.15%, with five-star safety certification.

By contrast, the China Insurance Research C-IASI uses a more stringent 25% positive bias collision test. During the 25% offset collision test on the front of the China Insurance Research C-IASI, the test vehicle hit the rigid barrier at the speed of 64.4km/h ±1km/h and the overlap rate of 25% ±1% (driver side). The dummy injury data, body structure deformation data and dummy movement state data were taken.
According to the C-IASI of China Insurance Research, the model participating in the crash test is the elite version of Guangzhou Automobile Honda Haoying 2020 240TURBO CVT, which is the second-lowest version of the model, with an official guiding price of 179800 yuan. Safety configuration includes lead and passenger seat airbags, front side airbags, no front and rear head air curtains.
Under the core front 25% offset collision test, Haoying performed poorly, the A-pillar was obviously bent, the door almost fell off, the car body structure was obviously deformed, and the front of the car invaded the cockpit at the same time. At present, Haoying's final results in the C-IASI of China Insurance Research have not yet been announced, but from the phenomenon of "failure" of column A, it is also difficult to get high marks.

From the operation of the two major collision safety testing institutions, the actual performance gap of GAC Honda Haoying is obvious. Why there is a bending failure of the A-column under the 25% offset collision is indeed a question worth pondering.
At present, a total of four Honda domestic models are on the C-IASI crash results list, but none of them got an excellent rating in the frontal 25% offset crash test, of which Accord and Civic all got A good rating, while Ling Pai and INSPIRE received M general rating.
Guangzhou Auto Honda's new compact SUV Haoying officially launched at the end of November 2019, launching a total of 11 models with a price range of 16.98-252800 yuan.
