Changan Ford announced the official launch of the latest domestic model, the Ford Explorer, which is located in a medium and large SUV, all equipped with a 2.3T engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission, with a price range of 30.98-399800 yuan.

The explorer is the highest positioning model in Changan Ford's domestic product series, and it is also an important step to achieve sales recovery and improve brand image. Domestic explorers will compete with Volkswagen Tuen, Buick Anke Banner, Toyota Henlanda and other models in the market.

In terms of appearance, domestic explorers use the overall shape of the overseas version, the new car uses a larger forward air grille, and can be equipped with different styles of medium-net shape according to different configurations. The waistline of the car body runs through the side of the car body, but the roof is more inclined downward, with hidden A, B, D column design, so that the whole side of the car body has a unique perspective.

The taillight of the new car adopts the C shape of vertical design, and the model adopts the exposed exhaust of double-sided layout. In the body size part, the length, width and height of the new car are 5075 × 2004 × 1778mm and the wheelbase is 3025mm, which is larger than the size of SAIC-Volkswagen Tuang.

The car is based on Ford's brand-new CD6 rear-drive platform, which is the product of the soon-to-be-made Lincoln flier. In terms of power, the new car is equipped with a 2.3T four-cylinder turbocharged engine CAF488WQGR, with a maximum power of 276hp and a peak torque of 425Nm, matched with a 10-speed manual self-contained gearbox. Except for the lowest-equipped models, all the others are equipped with four-wheel drive system. In addition, the official 0-100km/h acceleration time for domestic explorers is 7.6 seconds.

In terms of interior decoration, domestic explorers are equipped with a 12.8-inch central touch screen and equipped with SYNC+2.0 Zhihang infotainment system. The overall design also follows Ford's latest styling and layout, and the large-size central control screen is a highlight of the car.

Changan Ford's sales have declined for three consecutive years, with a cumulative sales of only 184000 vehicles in 2019. Now Changan Ford is speeding up product updates and localization of new cars, and there are also slight adjustments in positioning, so the recovery of sales has begun to bear fruit. Changan Ford has said it will launch at least 18 new models in the next three years. The new domestic explorer is unlikely to become a volume model, but it will also take an important step in improving Ford's brand image.

According to the data, Changan Ford sold 24402 vehicles in May, up 229% from a year earlier. Total sales of 75323 vehicles from January to May, up 27.6% from a year earlier. Thanks to the rising sales of Ruiji models and the renewal of other models, Changan Ford's sales performance has recovered significantly.
