A car owner, Mr. Lin, told the media that the Honda Fido he bought in 2018 suddenly stalled while driving, and the 4S store was confirmed to be caused by a fuel pump malfunction after maintenance. However, to Mr. Lin's dissatisfaction, the car appeared in the recall notice of the State Market Supervision Administration, but received the recall notice from the manufacturer only on the fifth day after it broke down.

According to the description, Mr. Lin's flying degree was purchased in 2018, and on June 3, Mr. Lin suddenly stalled while driving on the highway and stopped in the fast lane of the turning ramp.

Mr. Lin said there was nothing wrong with the car, let alone a sudden stall while driving. Mr. Lin said that after the engine was turned off, he tried to restart the car many times, but all ended in failure. Mr. Lin had no choice but to put the triangular warning frame behind the car and contact the trailer to deal with it at the scene. Mr. Lin's car was towed to the 4S store for repair. after the 4S store was overhauled, the 4S store informed Mr. Lin that the engine flameout was caused by the fuel pump malfunction. As Mr. Lin's car was still under warranty, the 4S store replaced the new fuel pump for Feido free of charge the day after the accident.

I thought the problem of engine flameout was over, but Mr. Lin was surprised to find something unusual.

Mr. Lin said that on the day the vehicle was repaired, he stumbled upon the Honda recall notice issued by the State Market Supervision Administration at the end of May. Mr. Lin checked the identification number of his vehicle and found that his car was in the process of being recalled.

According to the announcement, Guangzhou Automobile Honda and Dongfeng Honda filed with the State Market Supervision Administration and decided to recall 774800 vehicles on June 1. The recalled models include Guangzhou Automobile Honda Fengfeng, Odyssey, Crown Road, Colorado, Feido, Ling Pai, Accord, etc., as well as Dongfeng Honda Gori, Jingrui, Jade, Civic, Siplin, INSPIRE and other models. The reason for the recall is that "due to imperfect resin molding conditions in the manufacturing process of the fuel pump impeller, the fuel pump does not work well, and in extreme conditions, the engine may flameout while the vehicle is running, and there is a safety hidden danger". GAC Honda and Dongfeng Honda will replace fuel pumps free of charge for models within the scope of the recall.

However, Mr. Lin was not notified of the recall. According to Mr. Lin, Mr. Lin did not receive any recall notices, including text messages, phone calls and Wechat, from the beginning of the recall on June 1 to the day the engine stalled.

It was not until June 8, the day after the flameout, that Mr. Lin received a recall notice from GAC Honda. "if I had received the recall notice earlier, I might not have driven on the road and would not have encountered the problem of engine flameout," Mr. Lin said. " After the incident, Mr. Lin asked Guangzhou Auto Honda and its dealers to reimburse towing fees, late work fees and mental damage, but they were refused.

A staff member of the 4S store said that when the manufacturer issues the recall information, the dealer will notify the dealer as soon as possible, and the dealer will also inform the car owner through Wechat, phone, text message, etc., but in the absence of official documents, the car owner is hard to believe and will even be treated as harassment information, so it can only be subject to the final registered letter.

In addition, after the recall announcement is issued, the models within the recall scope have the faults mentioned in the recall notice, and the dealers will generally give away the owner maintenance service as compensation, but in addition to waiving the maintenance fee, manufacturers and dealers generally do not provide additional compensation.

In fact, the recall issued by manufacturers is seen as a measure to pay attention to the quality of automobile products and the personal safety of consumers. Manufacturers usually issue recall notices through the official website, but the recall information is rarely posted on the official Wechat official account and the official Weibo account. It is difficult for car owners to get the information immediately. Therefore, the relevant automobile companies still need to improve the ways of recall notice and improve the efficiency of recall.
