AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)06/23 Report--
As Toyota increases its product launch in China and enhances the position of the Chinese market within the group, more and more new models enter the domestic plan list. According to the current news, Toyota speeds up the implementation of dual-car strategy in China. Many new cars will have two versions of GAC Toyota and FAW Toyota at the same time, including a brand-new generation of Highlander, a new generation of Sienna, a new generation of Harrier, etc.
Recently, Toyota Motor's three new car patent maps in the State Patent Office were officially announced, including a new generation of Highlander and two pure electric SUVs, which are expected to be domestically listed in the future.
The patent drawing of the brand-new Toyota Highlander basically continues the overseas model. According to previous information, the new car may be made by GAC Toyota in 2020, and FAW Toyota will also launch a sister model. The fourth generation of Highlander is based on Toyota TNGA architecture (TNGA-K platform), with a more robust design, and its styling style is close to that of the brand-new RAV4.
In terms of power, the overseas version of Highlander provides 3.5L V6 and 2.5L hybrid two power options, among which 3.5L V6 engine maximum power 295 horsepower, peak torque 368 N·m, transmission system matching is 8-speed automatic gearbox. The hybrid model uses a 2.5L four-cylinder engine and two electric motors, with a combined power of 240 hp. It is expected that the domestic version will mainly push the 2.5L hybrid model.
The patent drawings of the other two Toyota pure electric SUVs will represent the styling design of Toyota's pure electric vehicles in China. Both new cars are based on Toyota e-TNGA architecture, one of which is a medium-sized SUV and the other is positioned as a compact SUV.
According to the patent drawing, Toyota's brand-new medium and large pure electric SUV adopts closed front face, trapezoidal middle net and headlight shape are Toyota's latest design. The side of the new car features a hidden roof design, with a waistline extending straight from the front hood to the rear, and a special black trim panel under the door panel. The tail design of the new car is very simple, and the taillight shape is also more "alternative".
The patent drawing of another compact electric SUV shows that the overall shape adopts a cross-border style, similar to the former design. The new car adopts hidden door handles, replaces the traditional exterior rearview mirror with a camera, and the C-pillar shape is thick and highly recognizable.
Toyota officials have announced that it will launch 10 pure electric models in five years starting in 2020, including three SUVs, one station wagon and two MPV models. GAC Toyota and FAW Toyota have planned to build 200,000 new energy vehicle production lines or factories with annual production capacity.
Toyota sold 1.62 million vehicles in China in 2019, up 9% year-on-year and surpassing sales in Japan for the first time. Among them, FAW Toyota's cumulative sales volume in 2019 was 738,000 vehicles, with a year-on-year growth of 2%, while GAC Toyota's cumulative sales volume in 2019 was 682,000 vehicles, with a year-on-year growth of 17.6%. Toyota China has set a sales target of 1.76 million vehicles in 2020, an increase of about 8.6% year-on-year. With more domestic new cars launched for six consecutive years and increased investment in new energy vehicles, Toyota's target in China or sword refers to Volkswagen.
