According to media reports, Mahayana plans to raise the market guidance price of Mahayana G60S national six models from June 24, 2020. For the reasons for the rise in prices, Mahayana said that due to the cyclical adjustment of the industry, the decline of the industrial economy and the impact of a sudden epidemic, it affected the overall supply chain cost system of the automobile industry, resulting in a sharp increase in the pressure on independent brands with meagre profits.

It is understood that the Mahayana G60S is a compact SUV under Mahayana, which went on sale on September 16, 2019. The new car has also launched six models with the national fifth edition, with an official guidance price of 7.19-121900 yuan. In terms of power, the Mahayana G60S carries a 1.5T turbocharged engine, which matches a 6-speed manual or 8-speed manual integrated transmission, with a maximum power of 120kW and a peak torque of 230Nm.

In terms of this price increase, the market guidance price of Mahayana G60S has been adjusted from 7.19-121900 yuan to 84900-121900 yuan. Among them, in addition to the price of the top version of the model remains unchanged, the price of other equipped models will be raised by 0.2-13000 yuan. It is worth mentioning that the Mahayana G60S is only the price adjustment, and has nothing to do with the overall design, configuration, body size and so on.

Compared with Geely and Great Wall cars, people may not know much about Mahayana cars. According to the data, Jiangxi Daisheng Automobile Co., Ltd., formerly known as Jiangxi Jiangling Group Light Automobile Co., Ltd., was registered on July 3, 1996 with a registered capital of 755.7556 million yuan. Industrial and commercial information was changed on January 12, 2018 from Jiangxi Jiangling Group Light Automobile Co., Ltd. to Jiangxi Dacheng Automobile Co., Ltd., founded by Wu Xiao (son of Zhongtai Automobile Chairman). In September 2018, Mahayana held a brand conference in Beijing, marking its official entry into the automotive industry.

As an emerging car brand, Mahayana is different from the current new power of car-building. First of all, Mahayana has the production qualifications of passenger cars, commercial vehicles and new energy vehicles; second, Mahayana already has two production bases, namely Jintan in Jiangsu and Fuzhou in Jiangxi.

At the beginning of the brand, Mahayana launched three models (Mahayana G70S, G60 and E20), all of which are listed as Mahayana cars. But fundamentally, the new cars are evolved from Zhongtai's Da Mai X7S, Da Mai X5 and Sesame models, except for slight changes in appearance, its interior and power remain basically unchanged. Data show that when Mahayana entered the car market in 2017, it sold 11528 vehicles that year; in September 2018, it launched its first SUV, which sold 20018 vehicles that year; and in 2019, it sold 25810 vehicles. In 2020, the sales of Mahayana cars will no longer be announced.

Since October 2019, news has been revealed that Mahayana employees are in arrears of wages. According to Mahayana employees, Mahayana Jintan base in Changzhou has been in arrears for many months, of which only part of the salary was paid in 2019 and has not been paid in full in 2020, involving more than 1500 employees. In addition, after the epidemic, there are about 500 employees in the first batch of Mahayana Jintan base, all of whom have not assigned a clear task for the time being, and the rest of them will not be notified to return to work for the time being.

In fact, compared with other brand-new brands, Mahayana still wins at the starting line. Mahayana not only has ready-made production qualifications and sales channels, but also has relatively mature technology in product research and development, relying on the original Zhongtai platform to quickly launch a number of models. However, under the interference of the epidemic and the further decline of the market, Mahayana also showed great pressure.

Data show that in the first five months of this year, there were more than 30 passenger car companies with sales of less than 5000, including brilliance Automobile, Changhe Automobile, BAIC Yinxiang, Quan Chi Automobile, Lifan Automobile, Cheetah Automobile, Southeast Automobile, etc., while more than 50 car companies are unlucky and may become the next Dongfeng Renault.
