Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Mazda have different performances.
Toyota is the leading car company of Japanese brands, and its sales are rising much faster than other Japanese brands. According to data released by Toyota China, sales in China rose 22.8 per cent to 172900 vehicles in June from a year earlier, and cumulative sales fell 2.2 per cent to 753100 vehicles from January to June.
In terms of sales, Toyota's sales grew by 22.8% in June, and its total sales in the first half of the year were only 2.2% lower than last year. If the growth can be maintained, it will be easy for Toyota to achieve flat sales from January to July. It is understood that Toyota's sales target in China in 2020 is 1.76 million vehicles, and as of June this year, Toyota has achieved its sales target of 42.79%. According to Toyota's product plan, Toyota will launch a new generation of Hanlanda, new Carola / Leiling, RAV4 Rongfang PHEV and other models this year to further promote sales growth.
In contrast to Toyota, Honda is the only Japanese brand with a "double negative". Honda's sales in China fell 4.1 per cent to 142363 vehicles in June and 17.9 per cent to 612007 from January to June, according to data released by Honda China.
Of course, the reason why Honda's sales still showed negative growth in June, and the decline in sales in the first half of the year was also the highest among Japanese brands, mainly because Dongfeng Honda was in the hardest hit area during the epidemic, production capacity and dealers were relatively backward, resulting in Honda's sales in China falling short of expectations, and it is understandable that Honda's sales in China fell short of expectations. By contrast, however, the Nissan brand has performed more strongly than the Honda brand.
Nissan's sales in China rose 4.5 per cent to 136929 vehicles in June and fell 17.0 per cent to 596342 vehicles from January to June, according to data released by Nissan China. Dongfeng Nissan and Dongfeng Limited both achieved positive growth, with Dongfeng Limited and Dongfeng Nissan selling 111234 and 104528 vehicles respectively in June, up 0.5 per cent and 2.8 per cent respectively from a year earlier. In terms of specific models, Nissan Xuanyi and the seventh generation Teana sold 48977 and 10254 vehicles respectively, while Qijun and Xiaoke sold 16133 and 12375 vehicles respectively.
In addition to the models currently on sale, Nissan will launch a series of new products in the next two years to cope with market competition. Although Nissan is one of the top three in Japan, it is not as rich as Toyota and Honda in terms of product campaign. if you want to keep a firm foothold in the market, you must enrich and improve the product camp.
As a member of Japanese brands, Mazda's sales are significantly lower than Toyota, Honda and Nissan. Mazda sales rose 7.3 per cent to 21002 vehicles in June, while cumulative sales fell 8.48 per cent to 97330 vehicles from January to June, according to data released by Mazda China.
At present, Mazda has five models sold in the Chinese market, namely, Changan Mazda 3 Uncella, CX-5, CX-30 and FAW Mazda CX-4, Mazda 6 Ataz. Specific sales, Mazda 3 Uncella and CX-5 sales of 6933 and 3585 respectively, CX-4 sales of 6149, as for Atez, CX-8 and the latest listing of CX-30 specific sales have not been announced.
Judging from the current performance of Mazda in China, it has achieved sales growth for three consecutive months, but there is still an 8 per cent gap between the first half of the year and the same period last year. If Mazda CX-30 can drive sales, it should not be a big problem to restore sales growth within this year.
However, there are abnormal noise problems in many models of Mazda, including Atez, Uncaila, CX-4 and so on. If the abnormal noise problem is still not effectively solved, it will have a great impact on Mazda's sales.
In May this year, the domestic passenger car market has returned to the same level, and the market share of Japanese brands is also increasing, which objectively reflects consumers' recognition of Japanese brands. In June, with the further recovery of national consumption level, the sales of Toyota, Nissan and other brands are also increasing, and the negative growth further narrowed in the first half of the year.
