As Geely, which has the highest sales volume among its own brands, a large number of new models have been launched in recent years. At present, Geely Automobile, Geometric Brand, Linkages Automobile and other multi-brand coexistence situation have been formed. Geely also plans to launch a brand-new energy brand of Maple Leaf Automobile within this year. "Ripple pattern grille" is one of the most iconic elements of Geely car family, and Geely plans to "change face", introduce a brand-new front grille design, and will soon be applied to two new cars.

In the model declaration information of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Geely Automobile declared two new cars, one of which is the new Borui and the other brand-new car will be named Geely Preface. The most obvious feature of these two new cars is the application of Geely's latest design family front face. Many netizens believe that the front face design "looks like an old Volvo".

The main changes in Geely's new Borui are in the front part and the powertrain. The front face of the new car has changed significantly, with the family-style ripple-patterned grille completely abandoned and changed to a multi-spoke straight waterfall grille. As the internal grille changes, the overall profile of the large mouth intake is also slightly adjusted. Compared with the old Volvo S60, there are obvious similarities.

The side of the new car has not been changed much, and a variety of new styles of rims are available. In terms of size, the length, width and height are 4986/1861/1513mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2870mm, which is consistent with the current model. The rear design of the new car has also not changed.

The new Borui will launch 1.5T MHEV version, 1.5T PHEV and 1.8T models. The new car still uses the 1.5T engine code-named JLH-3G 15TD, matched with the electric motor, and the maximum power of the engine has been adjusted from 132kW to 130kW, i.e. 177 hp, matching the 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. For the 1.8T fuel version, the maximum engine power is 132KW, the maximum torque is 300N·m, and the matching is a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox.

Another sedan, named Geely Preface, is based on CMA architecture and features a 2.0T turbocharged engine.

Geely Preface also abandoned Geely's existing corrugated grille and replaced it with a vertical waterfall grille. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4785/1869/1469mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2800 mm.

In terms of power, the new car will be equipped with a 2.0T turbocharged engine model JLH-4G 20TD with a maximum power of 190 hp.

The Chinese name of Geely Preface is expected to be named "Xingrui," which belongs to the same class of vehicles as Xingyue SUV and is relatively high in Geely automobile products.

Geely's acceleration of product renewal and launch of new models is an important measure for enterprises to increase their market competitiveness. However, due to the decline in recognition of new cars and the similarity of front face modeling with old Volvo models, some controversial voices have been caused.

Official data show that Geely's total sales volume in June was 110129 vehicles, up 21 percent year-on-year. From January to June, Geely sold 530,000 vehicles, down 19 percent year-on-year. In the first half of the year, Geely completed 38 percent of its 1.41 million sales volume. Geely said it had no plans to adjust its full-year target.
