According to SAIC-Volkswagen officials, with the support of the repurchase policy, the average daily cost of using a car is as low as tens of yuan. The cost of using a car for three years is calculated by including purchase tax, maintenance fee, insurance premium, vehicle depreciation fee, etc. In addition, SAIC-Volkswagen also provides a credit policy of 40% down payment of 2-year interest rate, and the new Longyi can enjoy an insurance subsidy of 3000 yuan.

It is worth mentioning that old car owners who buy these two models from July 1, 2017 will enjoy a repurchase of 75% discount for three years, which will be used to deduct the replacement of new cars for specified models. However, in the eyes of some netizens, this car purchase activity, which seems to be of great benefit to consumers, may also hide some "tricks". Of course, the ultimate right of interpretation belongs to SAIC Volkswagen.

SAIC-Volkswagen's move has something to do with its dismal market performance. According to sales data released by SAIC, car sales rose 2.8 per cent to 479000 in June and fell 30.24 per cent to 2.0491 million in the first half of the year. Among them, SAIC Volkswagen, the main sales force of SAIC Group, still had a disappointing sales performance in June, when sales fell by 7.0% to 143275 vehicles, ranking first among its subsidiaries with 577400 of sales in the first half of the year, but still a decline of 37.18%.

The decline in SAIC-Volkswagen sales has been a wake-up call for enterprises. In May this year, SAIC sold new cars at a 55% discount through various channels, of which SAIC-Volkswagen Tuen, Tuguan and other models were all on the list. Volkswagen Tuang, whose guidance price was 299700 yuan, sold 181445 yuan after a price reduction; and Volkswagen Tuguan L, which had a guided price of 253800 yuan, sold 139590 yuan after a price reduction, which was also aimed at reversing the declining trend of sales.

According to the June car sales list, Xinlang Yi and Lingdu ranked first and fourth among SAIC-Volkswagen sedans, with sales of 36272 (7.3%) and 5658 (- 30.7%), respectively.

For now, sales of both models are not optimistic. Lang Yi, as the main sales model of SAIC Volkswagen, had previously competed with Xuanyi for the position of champion in car sales. However, since the outbreak, Lang Yi model sales have plummeted, Xuanyi sales far ahead of Lang Yi, Corolla sales also have the momentum to surpass Lang Yi's current sales performance is worrying; Lingdu's performance is the same. Sales began to decline after hitting the highest sales this year with 9581 vehicles in April, with sales of 7022 in May and 5658 in June and only 28435 in the first half of the year. Overall, SAIC-Volkswagen launched the policy of preserving value and restricting purchases, largely due to the sharp drop in sales of these two models, and the accumulation of inventory is also one of the main reasons.
