AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)07/16 Report--
Both Xiaopeng Automobile and Tesla have a certain accumulation in self-driving, but what is unexpected is that Tesla accidentally "flipped over" and quoted Xiaopeng's video in the announcement promoting his own self-driving, arousing heated discussion and attention from netizens.
Tesla posted an article entitled "waiting for lights" on the official Wechat account on July 16, intended to promote his own self-driving technology, but misquoted the traffic light perception video of Xiaopeng car XPILOT3.0. After the issue was exposed by netizens, there was a heated discussion, and Tesla quickly deleted the relevant tweets.
In response to Tesla's "advertising" for Xiaopeng, Xiaopeng also responded. Huang Xin, director of Xiaopeng's self-driving products, posted a thank you on his Weibo account: "Thank you Tesla for quoting Xiaopeng's XPILOT 3.0traffic light perception video in his official account today. Happy cooperation (please don't delete it). I'll post the complete video on Weibo again later." Huang Xin then posted a video on Weibo with the caption: "this section of the road is on Huaguan Road, Tianhe District, Guangzhou, next to Xiaopeng Automobile R & D headquarters in Guangzhou. Welcome to experience P7".
Xiaopeng also posted an article entitled "the World seen in P7 eyes, this is it" on its official Wechat account, which released a complete video of the misquotation in Tesla's tweet. the video shows the visual perception of Xiaopeng's self-driving car.
Tesla mistakenly cast Xiaopeng car video caused hot discussion among netizens. Some netizens said, "Thank you for Tesla's advertisement", while others said, "Tesla: it's all our program anyway."
In fact, there have been many incidents of advertising oolong, and Land Rover China has previously "promoted" Xiaopeng car, misusing Xiaopeng's picture material in an advertisement about the new Land Rover. Such incidents are generally thought to be caused by misoperation, and the brand usually deletes the relevant pictures and text very quickly. At the same time, many netizens think that it is a way for the brand to change to hype. This is the case with the previous Audi and Infiniti incidents. After Audi misused the Infiniti car promotional video in the Wechat moments advertising video, which was exposed by the media in a short time. Eventually led to Audi and Infiniti fame.
Of course, for Tesla miscast advertising, the possibility of turning to marketing basically does not exist. At present, Tesla is much ahead of Xiaopeng in sales, so there is no need for Tesla to achieve change growth in this way.
In addition, Tesla and Xiaopeng are sworn enemies, and the two companies have also had some contradictions in self-driving technology. In March 2019, Tesla sued Cao Guangzhi, a former Chinese researcher of Autopilot computer vision, accusing him of stealing the source code of Autopilot autopilot technology and joining Xiaopeng Automobile, a Chinese electric car startup, as the head of self-driving awareness of Xiaopeng car. In April 2020, Tesla escalated the self-driving theft case, requiring Xiaopeng to disclose all its autonomous driving technology source code, including November 2018. Of course, this series of unreasonable demands were rejected by Xiaopeng's righteous words.
Xiaopeng said that in the past year, Xiaopeng has been working hard to assist in the investigation of the case, and even took the initiative to provide an electronic backup of Cao Guangzhi's work computer, but so far there is no evidence that Xiaopeng has abused trade secrets or other misconduct. In the past year, all the attempts shown by Tesla have shown bullying to young competitors.
Tesla deleted the relevant tweets after Tesla mistakenly cast the Xiaopeng car video, but responded to the incident.
