However, with the arrival of the Red Flag brand S9, it means that domestic brands will also have a change in supercars. Because there is official news that the model will be listed at a price of more than 10 million.

Although Red Flag released a preview of the new car last year and took it to the Frankfurt Motor Show, and announced in April that the model would be mass-produced, FAW Red Flag did not disclose more about the exact time. Until recently, Wang Guoqiang, member of the standing Committee of the Party Committee and deputy general manager of China first Automobile Group, said: "the Red Flag S9 was released in China at the end of 2020 and sells for more than 10 million yuan." It means that the model will soon be available for the rich to buy.

For such a price may seem a bit high, because as an independent brand, it undoubtedly has a high premium rate, although the current Red Flag brand has achieved the positioning of high-end models in China, but it is not comparable to ultra-luxury brands.

However, it is understood that this model is the first red flag sports car made by a joint venture between FAW of China and Silco of the United States.

Silco is an automobile company integrating vehicle design, engineering research and development, prototype car and vehicle manufacturing. Headquartered in New York, it has a wholly-owned R & D and production center in Modena, Italy, and has developed Bugatti Weihang, Pagani Zonda and other supercars. At the same time, Silco of the United States also registered its Chinese branch "Silke Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd." in Shanghai Free Trade Zone on April 29, 2019.

According to the plans announced by both sides, Silco of the United States will invest 10 billion yuan in the next five years, the R & D center will be set up in Italy, and Changchun is the production and operation base. In the future, the construction will be divided into three phases, which will gradually realize the domestic assembly and delivery of Hongqi S9 and S7 supercar products, as well as the domestic manufacturing and delivery of Hongqi S5, S3 and other models. So the Red Flag S9 is not a simple car.

Because Red Flag released only the concept car before, and the relevant information and parameters of the final production model have not been disclosed, but the appearance, interior decoration and configuration are expected to retain the elements of the concept car to a great extent.

In terms of appearance, the external lines of the new car are very streamlined, in line with the sports nature and aggressive visual effects of the supercar, and the design of the eagle wing door is also adopted. The new headlamp group uses full LED light source, the interior uses a dense arrangement of light belt design, and the front central red flag brand-new stripe LOGO bright red shining. At the same time, from the front of the car, we can also see an air duct entering from the front and running through the front hatch. this design, together with the huge fixed spoiler at the rear, will bring a stronger aerodynamic effect to the whole vehicle. this effectively improves high-speed stability.

From the side of Red Flag S9, the flat and low body design presses the center of gravity down. What is more unique is that the new car is equipped with a set of star rims locked by a single bolt. In the rear, in addition to the giant rear spoiler, we can also see the design of the central vertical bar echoing the red flag stripe LOGO at the front of the car, as well as the exaggerated shape of the taillight group.

The interior is very simple, but the overall effect is full of performance and is equipped with an irregularly shaped steering wheel.

As for power, insiders said that the Red Flag S9 power part of the plan has been finalized, the Red Flag S9 will be equipped with a V8 twin-turbocharged engine + twin-motor hybrid system, which can generate a maximum of 1400 horsepower.

According to the latest news from Hongqi S9, the model will be assembled and mass produced in Changchun FAW plant by the end of this year and will become another mass production supercar of Chinese brands. Although it is not known whether the model is easy to sell, the S-series sports car is more likely to enhance the brand image and premium of Red Flag, while helping Red Flag enter overseas markets.

As we all know, Hongqi brand has become the main independent automobile brand of FAW Group. Thanks to the rapid development, brand transformation and the increase of product line, it has helped it achieve terminal sales growth. FAW Hongqi brand sold 15380 units in June, up 92% from a year earlier, according to official figures, up 92% from January to June with 70000 units sold, up 111% from a year earlier. The growth of Red Flag brand sales has also become one of the few independent brands to maintain growth in 2020.
