The upcoming SUV is a large SUV Tuang Coupe in SAIC-Volkswagen.

The Tuen Coupe is basically a production version of the Volkswagen Cross Coupe GTE concept car, which was first unveiled at the 2015 North American Auto Show four years ago. Awkwardly, the Zhongtai Grand Mai X7 went on sale in March 2017, which bears a striking resemblance to the Volkswagen Cross Coupe GTE concept car, which was already controversial at that time.

Tuang Coupe continues the design style of Tuang, but there are also differences in many details, such as headlights, medium grid modeling, front fog lights, bumpers and so on. The styling of the slippery back is the unique feature of the Coupe model. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4905/1989/1719mm, wheelbase and width are the same as the ordinary version, both are 2980mm.

From the overall shape of the rear, we can see how similar the two cars are. Including taillight group, horizontal chrome-plated decoration, rear bumper and other more prominent design, Coupe and Zhongtai Daimai X7 are basically the same.

In terms of power, like the ordinary version of Tuang, the Coupe offers two power-adjusted 2.0T engines and 2.5T V6 turbocharged engines with maximum power of 186hp, 220hp and 299hp, respectively, and peak torque of 320Nm, 350Nm and 500Nm respectively. The transmission system will match the seven-speed double-clutch gearbox, and some models will also provide four-wheel drive system.

It can be predicted how awkward Volkswagen's upcoming press conference will be. As far as Volkswagen is concerned, it is not wrong for Volkswagen to continue the design and shape of its own concept car, but after all, it has been two years since the mass production of the Zhongtai Damai X7. Outsiders inevitably mistakenly think that Volkswagen directly copied Zhongtai. Perhaps Zhongtai did not expect that Volkswagen actually produced the concept car released four years ago.
