On July 20, Great Wall launched three new technology brands: the new modular model platform, the lemon platform, the professional off-road platform, the tank platform, and the new intelligent platform, the coffee platform. According to officials, the Great Wall Lemon will be used as the vehicle platform for the next technical stage of the Great Wall, including 438 basic modules and 113 standard modules, with extensibility covering A0, A, B, C and D classes. to create a new generation of models for the Great Wall. In terms of fuel power, the lemon platform will use 2.0T and 1.5T engines and the transmission system will be equipped with 7DCT and 9DCT gearboxes.

The tank platform will be used as a professional off-road platform for Great Wall Motor. The models built for Great Wall Motor include B, C, D and D+ SUV models as well as pick-up trucks. The model built on the tank platform will be equipped with a 3.0GDIT engine and match the 9AT gearbox to provide better off-road capability for the new car; the coffee platform is a set of intelligent system to be launched by Great Wall Automobile in the future, and the coffee intelligent system will be the first to be used in the WEY P01 model.

On July 17, Great Wall Chairman Wei Jianjun issued an open letter saying: "this year is my thirtieth year of building a car at the Great Wall. According to Wei Jianjun, Great Wall Motor has developed rapidly in the past 30 years, but in the face of great changes in the current market, in the face of the global economic downturn, new car-building forces, and the "sandwiched attack" of foreign brands, coupled with the superimposed impact of the epidemic, the future development prospect of Great Wall Automobile is not optimistic.

In 2019, the market share of China's independent brands fell below 40%. Affected by the epidemic in the first half of 2020, the market share of independent brands was only 36.3%, a 10-year low, causing worries in the industry about its follow-up development and living environment.

With the gradual slowdown of the economic downturn and market increment, China's automobile market is entering a new stage of stock competition, and China's automobile market will face a severe test in stages. At present, Great Wall has four major brands: Harvard, WEY, Great Wall and Euler. Figures show that Great Wall sold 395097 vehicles in the first half of this year, down 19.95 percent from 493538 in the same period last year and meeting only 38.7 percent of the year's target. Of these, sales of the Harvard brand fell 25.69 per cent to 262216, the WEY brand fell 43.18 per cent to 26639 and the Euler brand fell 65.07 per cent to 9436.
