On July 27, Fortune China released the latest Fortune China 500 list, which takes into account the performance and achievements of the world's largest Chinese listed companies over the past year. A total of 23 companies were on the list in the automotive and parts industry, an increase of one compared with last year.

Of the 23 carmakers and parts suppliers on the list this year, 18 are vehicle manufacturers and five are parts suppliers, two of which are involved in the field of vehicles and parts, according to official data.

According to the specific list, the top three enterprises are SAIC, Beijing Automobile and Weichai Power. As the largest vehicle manufacturer in China, SAIC topped the list with revenue of 843.324 billion yuan, but compared with the same period last year, the income dropped from fifth last year to seventh. Beijing Automobile ranked second on the list. Revenue increased to 174.63 billion yuan from 151.92 billion yuan last year, and the ranking also rose from 65 last year to 61. Weichai Power, as the largest spare parts enterprise in China, its income has also increased from 159.256 billion yuan last year to 174.36 billion yuan under the background of increasing vehicle supply and demand.

The fourth to tenth companies on the list are BYD, Dongfeng Motor, Geely Motor, Great Wall Motor, Changan Automobile, China heavy truck (Hong Kong) and Gunsheng Electronics.

Sales of Chinese brand passenger cars fell 15.8 per cent to 8.407 million in 2019, accounting for 39.2 per cent of the passenger car market, according to the China Automobile Association. As we all know, the domestic auto market continued its sluggish development trend in 2019, resulting in a lack of output in the past year, and the decline in sales led to a further decline in performance. According to the overall ranking, BYD fell to 80 from 70 last year, Dongfeng Motor fell to 98 from 90 last year, Geely and Great Wall both dropped to more than 100, and other companies also fell to varying degrees.

Also ranked 11th to 22nd on this year's list are GAC GROUP, BAIC Foton, Ningde Times, FAW cars, BAIC Blue Valley, Fuyao Glass and other enterprises. As far as the companies on the list are concerned, the two companies with the greatest progress are Ningde era and BAIC Langu, of which the Ningde era rose to 226 from 290 last year, while BAIC Langu rose to 386 from 494 last year. The reason for the rise is mainly due to the increase in orders in Ningde era and the continuous growth of BAIC new energy vehicle sales under the subsidy policy in the first half of the year.

In sharp contrast, there has been a big decline in other enterprises, including GAC GROUP from 125last year to 175, Jiangling Motor from 298to 331, Nestl é from 330to 369, and Fuyao Glass to 442from 413 last year.

In terms of the companies listed in the Fortune 2020, China's top companies are basically on the list, but only a small number of companies can achieve performance growth. It has to be said that under the influence of the car body environment in China's car market, the development of automobile and parts enterprises has indeed encountered development bottlenecks, especially after the epidemic this year, both head and tail enterprises have great difficulties, and some of them even have to withdraw from the market because of operational difficulties. It is believed that there will be a huge change in ranking after the new Fortune list is released next year.

However, industry insiders said that the ranking on this year's list is also the result of the survival of the fittest in the automobile industry after a cold winter, and expect to see more automobile companies on the list and achieve better development on the road of improving quality and efficiency.
