AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)07/28 Report--

Since Tesla built a factory in China at the end of last year to deliver the domestic Model 3 model, it has become the best-selling electric model in China. In order to accelerate the expansion of the Chinese market, Tesla has also begun to accelerate plans for a second domestic model, the Model Y model, and will also launch a "Chinese local style model."

According to relevant media reports, Tesla recently launched a large-scale recruitment in Shanghai, planning to hire a number of designers and more than 1000 factory workers for China's modeling center. A person familiar with the matter said that Tesla's move was to prepare for the production of Model Y in Shanghai.

According to an official account post, the latest recruitment information for Tesla's Shanghai factory will be expanded by as many as 970 people, including 600 production operators, 150 quality inspectors and 200 logistics forklift workers, almost all of them related to front-line production. Among them, the production staff clearly wrote that the department workshop includes "die casting, stamping, car body, painting, final assembly". It can be guessed that these new employees will be used to support the production of Model Y production line.

Although there are no resumes related to designers on the official account, a series of positions for the China Design Center have been listed in Tesla's official recruitment system. As early as January this year, Musk said he would open a design and research center in China to build "Chinese-style" cars, but the news did not reveal how many designers Tesla planned to hire. The announcement of the recruitment news means that the promotion of the "Chinese style" car plan will be accelerated.

However, as for the "Chinese style" car, Musk has also said that it is only a model designed around the Chinese market and will still be sold to the global market in the future. Details of the Chinese-designed Tesla are unclear, but it is expected to be a small car designed below the Model 3 in the company's model series. At the same time, Musk also mentioned that the next product wants to be as radical as Cybertruck.

According to previous media reports, Tesla's Shanghai Super Factory Phase II project has entered a later stage. According to the entry of equipment from the Y production line issued by Tesla's Q2 financial report, and the gradual increase in the number of freight trucks carrying new equipment to Tesla's Shanghai Super Factory, as well as the completion of the steel structure construction of the Model Y plant in early May this year, all signs indicate that the preparation work for the Model Y model is in progress and will be put into production by the end of the year.

Obviously, Tesla hopes to continuously increase the output of China, the world's largest auto market, and achieve expansion in the Chinese market. According to sales figures for the last quarter, Tesla delivered more than 30, 000 cars in China, most of which are locally produced Model 3 cars, accounting for 30% of its global sales and ranking the highest in domestic new energy sales for many months.
