Xu Heyi, 63, no longer holds the post of party secretary and chairman of BAIC Group due to his age, and Jiang Deyi, former chairman of Beijing Jinyu Group Co., Ltd., took over the post, according to an official release from BAIC Group.

Xu Heyi ended his 18-year career at BAIC. Xu Heyi joined BAIC Group in 2002 and served as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Chairman of BAIC Holding Company, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Beijing Hyundai Company; in 2006, Xu Heyi began to serve as Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of BAIC Group, taking full charge of the business of BAIC Group.

During his tenure, Xu Heyi led the establishment of two joint ventures, Beijing Hyundai and Beijing Benz, among which Beijing Benz contributed nearly 90% of revenue to Beijing Automobile. In July 2019, BAIC announced its investment in Daimler, holding a 5% stake in the other party, thus making BAIC the third largest shareholder of Daimler.
