AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)08/03 Report--

Volkswagen 1.4TSI engine to achieve domestic for many years and equipped with Volkswagen, Audi models, originally thought that with the upcoming debut of the eighth generation of golf, its 1.5TSI evo engine will also be exposed. However, when the new car was officially off the line, the 1.5TSI evo engine was not seen, and it was recently reported that the Volkswagen 1.5T engine would not be unveiled until 2023.

On July 28, the eighth generation of golf officially went offline at the FAW-Volkswagen Foshan factory. The new car did not bring Volkswagen's latest 1.5T engine, but continued to choose cash 1.2T and 1.4T engines. The reason is that Volkswagen plans to directly bring the "updated" 1.5T engine.

According to media sources quoted clues, the domestic EA211 Evo engine directly skipped the output of the same "first version", but plans to directly make the second version of the engine domestically produced by the end of 2020, and is expected to be equipped in early 2023 on the domestic brand-new golf, the time will be synchronized with Europe.

That is, the new engine that will be made in China in the future is not the EA211 Evo with 150hp, but the EA211 Evo 2 version with power raised to 160hp.

This is obviously different from the previously reported 1.5T engine. After all, Volkswagen released this new generation of EA211 1.5T Evo engine as early as 2016 and has been applied to overseas models, while the Chinese market has been delayed again and again, which undoubtedly disappoints many consumers again and again.

Because compared with the 1.4T engine used in the current domestic models, the 1.5T engine is not only equipped with a variable cross-section turbocharger, which can make the engine form a greater "thrust" to promote the turbine rotation at low speed and better restrain the turbine hysteresis phenomenon; at high speed, with the increasing exhaust pressure, the angle of the guide vane is also opened to the maximum, achieving the ideal turbocharging effect.

At the same time, thanks to technologies such as ACT actively variable cylinders, VTG variable cross-section turbochargers, high compression ratio Miller cycles, GPE gasoline particulate matter traps, new intercooling and intake systems, and more precise temperature management, better fuel economy is achieved and fuel consumption is lower than 1.4T engines.

In addition, the EA211 Evo engine can also be matched with the 48V light mixing system, this powertrain can achieve faster dynamic response, and all models that match the 48V light mixing system will be distinguished by eTSI on the tail mark. The new Golf is also Volkswagen's first compact car with a 48-volt light mixing system. As for the future domestic brand-new golf will match this set of powertrain still have to wait.

According to previous media reports, Volkswagen Group has filed the technical transformation project with the Local Development and Reform Bureau in August 2019. After the project is completed, the engine production capacity will reach 600000 units per year. Production is planned by the end of this year and will be carried in its models in 2021, including SAIC-Volkswagen and FAW-Volkswagen joint ventures. But now that the news is true, it means that Volkswagen's plan is about to be shelved, and consumers will have to wait another three years to use the engine.
